It's great to see another 1936 National 12 making it back on the water and hopefully inspiring another generation.

The National 12 Open Meeting at Yorkshire Dales SC is on Sunday 15th September.

The format is the same as recent years, linking in with the Club's normal racing programme but with our own fleet start. That is 2 races in the morning, first start not before 11.00am, come in for lunch, then 2 races after lunch, 3 out 4 to count.

Glad you've been enjoying the 12.

National 12 jib haylards would normally be wire with a dyneema or twisted strand rope tail. We use wire haylards on carbon masts also. The wire usually has a long loop in it allowing it to pull through the slot in the side of the mast.

Can you post a photo of your set up - a photo of the sheave at front of the mast and the the slot and whatever the cleat / fixing system is at the based of the mast. That should help us work out the problem

Good question. Up to this point the National 12 handicap  had generally been reducing. The reducing handicap would seem to tally with the steady improvement in speed of the new boats and developments in rigs etc. I think this is first increase in handicap and isn't obviously linked to any changes within the class. It's therefore an interesting question as to whether we should change the historic guidance. Changing history doesn't quite seem right but then we need to view that hsitory in the context of the current published handicaps.

I think this is something for the National 12 Committee to discuss. I'll suggest it is raised.

N3484 Total Perspective Vortex  was the star of the National 12 stand at the 2024 RYA Dinghy Show. She was apparently runner up in the concours d'elegance. This is a photo of her on the stand during Dave Hollom's dinghy design talk. There is more about the show here

Please see note from Northampton on logistics

Dear all,

We are looking forward to welcoming you this weekend to Northampton Sailing Club for the Solo Inlands Champs and the National 12 Inlands Champs. I'd like to share some logistics and access information for the weekend.

Please note we expect many people this weekend at the club, specially on Saturday evening 6pm to 9pm) for the bonfire event where we expect about 400 people , because of that we need to be super organised with parking of cars, motor homes caravans and trailers, so I please kindly ask you to follow the guidance below.

- If you have a motor home or caravan please park on the hard standing as you enter the club on your right. Please see photo with blue area highlighted. 

- If you have car please park on the grass on the right side of the road , please see photo with red area highlighted.

- Please be mindful with your trailer so we can maximise parking area.

- Attached NOR and SI so you have them on hand.

- On arrival please remember to stop by reception to register  and/ or sign in.

- Galley will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday , and for breakfast and lunch on Sunday. If you arrive tonight (Friday) plenty of  options for food in Brixworth all within a 5 minute drive / 20min walk from the club . 
     - Pub (George Inn or Coach & Horses)
     - Curry (The Purple Ivy) 
     - Fish and Chips shop
     - a Co-Op

Here are the details for the Henley Open Meeting.

There is a supper the night before at 19:30.  3 courses for £10. Camping is available on the club grounds free of charge, details from Jeff Manning secretary@henleysailingclub.org.uk

First start on the Sunday is at 11am.

Entry for the meeting is £5, lunch will be £3 per person and teas will be available as usual after the event.
