Spinnaker open meeting
A glassy lake greeted the 11 entries but the beaming sunshine made up for that. A light and highly variable breeze filled for race 1. Matt & Jo Stiles were first to tack off the heavily port biased line and picked up the filling breeze first. They led for a lap before Graham Camm & Zoë Ballantyne managed to claw past to take the gun.
After a leisurely lunch to wait for the sea breeze race 2 kicked off in a nice force 3. Again Matt & Jo were first off the line getting a clean start. They defended their position against David Wilkins & Clare Hunter and also Mike Day & Anne Murch. By lap 2 Graham & Zoë were nipping at their heels and overtook on the run to take the win.
By race 3 the wind had the odd force 4 gust which caught several by surprise. Graham & Zoë were first off the line this time. Matt & Jo looked good to claim second at the windward mark however an evil gust put paid to that sending them for a swim. Matt & Jo found some blinding speed on lap 4 to shoot through to second and attack the leaders but Graham & Zoë protected their position to take first.
The wind held up nicely for the final race. The leading pack including Steve & Robbie Adshead, Mike & Anne, Phil & Dawn Brown and David & Clare kept close for 3 laps. Things got exciting on lap 4 as David & Clare took a swim on the run. Steve & Robbie fought their way into a clear lead which they extended to the finish. Overall results
1st Graham Camm & Zoë Ballantyne 2nd Matt & Jo Stiles 3rd Mike Day & Anne Murch 1st Admiral's cup: Phil & Dawn Brown
