Boats / Re: N2958 Purfect
Last post by Kevin Sneddon - 18 Nov 2024, 11:36
I am the new owner of 2958 having purchased it via Ebay in August 2024 for just £10. The boat is in remarkably good condition as it has been garage stored for 15 plus years.
I have completely stripped all of the fittings and as of November 2024 I am about to invert the hull ready for stripping and repainting. I have, courtesy of Clive Warren the original owner, images of the bare hull as it came from the builder, which clearly shows the screw head locations from the first construction. Some of the filling of the screws has fallen out and I intend replacing all of the filler of the builders screws. I'm enjoying every minute of the refurbishment and can't wait to complete the project and get Purfect back on the water in the spring of 2025.

Hi Ed,

Mega Thankyou!

Not sure I'll be going for such a big name graphic, but it did look cool back in the day.

Hi All,

I've been looking through the Boat DB and old newsletters for a picture of 3404 in the original "The Arouser" colours but I haven't had any luck, does anyone have any knocking around that you could share please ?

Many Thanks

Advertised for sale on eBay October 2024, "Buy it Now" of £75.
Ad reads as below :
'Macaroon' is an old GRP sailing dinghy, believed to date from 1972 and to be of the 'Paper Dart' design
These are very popular boats, but this one has been sitting idle for a while so it's time for it to have a new home.
It is complete, with mast, boom, sails and rudder, lines etc., but is in need of a good clean up and some 'TLC'! The cover is in poor condition, and will need replacing or repair.
Bungs included (inner, and outer) but need re-fitting.
Sails: Main and jib both in reasonable condition. Sail no: 3174

And in case this is useful to anyone else doing this in future...  We did manage to fit a new wire N12 halyard in the end, but only after making it up around the sheave box (as the ferrule on the soft eye was too large to thread through).
