does the soapdish need a home then?

Linton at full force boats in weymouth had a carbon spar i considered for my baggy. It needs some fettling (damaged mast track) but it could do, i think the contact details are on the new boats page of this website. It was just the section mind, no fittings of any sorts, but you could possibly transfer some from your ally mast depending on what it is. I didn't go for it in the end, there was so much to do to 3255 I didnt have enough money or time left this winter!

A couple of things i can suggest without seeing it:
Is the mast foot adjustable? could it be moved forward?
Assuming the shrouds are ajustable how are they set when you crank on the rig tension?
Is the mast defo straight? It didnt spend the winter in an awkward place did it?
And does putting the main up make a difference? Sometimes if its marginal it does make a difference when rigged with the main and boom in place.
HAve the spreader lengths been changed? If so this could mean your deflection may not be right even if they re angled beyond what they were before!
Hope this is helpful at all, I know it can be a real pain when you cant find the problem. I'm still getting to grips with my rig (damn swinging spreaders!)
best of luck.

Does the rondar boat not have a foredeck? maybe its the picture playing tricks on me but it appears to be open at the front there. Nice looking boat though! Dont think i can talk the better half round into purchasing one right now though :-P

my grp baggy has an "L" section of aluminium that is bolted to the knee at the shroud base to the front of the C/B housing (just aft of the mast foot. These double up as tie ons for the toe straps as well. This winter I removed them to repair the starboard knee as the rig tension was pulling it off the boat. With this in mind I refitted the aluminium sections - despite the weight issues. I would imagine on a wodden boat it would help stiffen it up as well. Attaching things that do stiffen boats can often move problems though so be sure to be confident in the place you fix said bits of metal/grp/carbon. Wooden boats sometimes need a bit of give in them otherwise they are too stiff for their own good - bit of a balancing act!

Has anyone thought of doing Weymouth Regatta? I will be with my 12 this year and I noticed one on the results for last year. Any other takers? it's the 11th and 12th of July. I ve always been on a yacht for it but fancy a change!
website is www.weymouth-regatta.org for more info

One the beautys of the 12 seems that things like this can be how they work best for you. It seems a little odd for them to be on the fwd side of the thwart. Its common for them to be on the aft side. Having just redone my baggy i ve left them on the aft side so either helm or crew can reach them, they re less likely to be knocked out and its what im used to sailing 200's and 2000 etc at work. I ve seen this system then run to a bungee on the inside of the sidedeck which then runs aft to give it length -  which takes the slack out and holds them at hand  (was on a merlin i think?!?). One good thing to do is scan some other boats similar, failing that some pictures of others. The most important thing is that it works for you though, even if everyone else cant make head nor tails of it!

Dare, I do know a welder but he is a fireman and quite busy just recently so i was looking for other options, but I may well end up talking to him. Sounds like welsh harp might do a good price tho! Thanks for all the input people!

Does anyone know where to source the post that supports the mast at the front of a road base? I figured I could get one that U bolts on but don't seem to be able to find any.

Cheers

yes indeed, it is very similar, although grimalkin was international toplac - bondai blue, this is brightside - largo blue, and the orange name is a bit of a tradmark thing i guess, i liked it in grimalkin so...
