thanks for the input there everyone. Jeremy, im not going to do it unitl one evening next week but i can send u the measurement of my old masts spreader height, which is a proctor c as well, so that should see u about right. From the feedback here i shall be copying it myself now!

I am currently replacing my mast and have the old mast with the spreader height quite high and the (second hand!) replacement donated from a lark having the spreaders much lower. Is there an optimum height people are going for? I'm guessing with the spreaders lower down the  lower - middle of the mast will be stiffer?

Just to continue the praise this was my first burton week and, for a number of reasons, not the most successful week(end) sailing away I've had. Despite this i still thought it was an excellent event and a great venue and thanks to everyone who made it happen. I'm looking forward to it coming to my home patch of water next year, and it has done nothing but enthuse me to be more active with my 12 in the future.

thanks chaps. it really is an old one for rough headings if its a big course rather than playing the shifts, this beng my first time at the burton i figured its best to ask. probably leave it to bleed to death in the shed rather than pop it in the car!

Just found my compass for the 12 is leaking quite badly, it might work ok but its pretty wrecked to be honest. how important is it for finding our way at burton week? Im figuring not "too" essential but thought i should check!

I would like to up my number to two small tents instead of one please, not for all my sailing kit but for my crews comfort! They are both only small though so shouldnt take much more space than the one i would have thought.

cheers

browsing through the boat listings there is a boat called "Pip"  - so you could always go as yourself if nothing else comes to mind!

N3231 a baggy 2 is still on the for sale list and being in norfolk isnt a million miles away from you. on the list for £795 and sounds a well sorted boat. Since it has been there a while i wonder if a sensible offer might shift her? Would fit the bill for your requirements as well perhaps?
best of luck

Third one down in the second post gets my vote. That said they all look cracking - good effort!
(the blue also suits the new colour of my boat :P!! so extra thumbs up from me!)

Indeed. Good job there Tim, although it makes me want to rename my baggy trousers 'scruffy trousers' :P

even a proctor "c" or similar seems to have a big weight saving over a needlespar - and its lots cheaper than carbon! I was suprised after the needlespar i had on grimalkin how light the "C" was on the baggy!
And I agree with luke, having read back over some "soapdish" threads it seems no matter how slowwww some boats are there is a reason to keep em going - every dog has its day! (a phrase someone uttered to me when i bought the baggy, and im still not sure how to take it!)
