Good to see Ian having a go at making a foil. That is what this class is all about, it is more than just buying off the peg. Having built several boats, rudders and c/boards it can be a steep learning curve but good when you get it right. Best of luck. Dare from the world of Puddings.

In the post dated 8th. March it was reported by Chadders that warm weather and good winds had been laid on. Does he still stand by his statement???

Your 10mm. should be plenty, however the fixing of the knee to the transom and the hog I feel is even more importent. On my wooden boats the knee is always rebated into the transom with a good epoxy filet on all the joints. Where the bolts pass through the transom for the pintals it is worth drilling oversize, filling with epoxy and then redrilling.
Best of luck Dare. N3521

I built a Trouble Shooter which is a follow on from your boat. Whilst the keel is not part of the main structure of the hull I do not think the work needed to remove and make good would be worthwhile. If the C/board is above the keel line by all means you could take a plane and reduce the profile. The b/keels were stuck on after the hull was off the mold and would be easy and worthwhile to revove. Have fun with the boat, they sail nicely.

Hi Make yourself a daggerboard rudder. In lighter winds it will work fine when half raised and much better that a normal rudder raked back. To make rudder and stock will cost you less thay £50.
Good luck.
