Firstly never use pumps as a measure, they soon get gumed up and do not dispense a true measure. In cold weather I keep resins etc in the airing cupboard, also means resin is at a better temp when you use it. Regards your current batch of resin try a sample on some scrap to see how it works. In cold weather I always use local heat to help it set.
Good luck

Last year I was part of the Burton Week organising comm for the TB Burton. The swift response and the numbers of entries was amasing, but the early response greatly helped us put on a great event. If you are planning to come to Weymouth and have the entry form at the ready I am sure Tim and his comm. would greatly appreciate to know nubers asap. Also Weymouth is a great place to sail so you dont want to miss out.

ps that was hard work as arm is in a sling following a bit of shoulder blade being removed yesterday, caused by sailing abuse over many years!!!!!!

Hi. Try P&B for your cover, they will have made many covers for the Baggy design and might still have the measurments.
When you have got your boat up and sailing come and play with other 12's, you will have fun and receive much advice along the way.
Good luck. dare N3521 'the ginger pudding'

National handbook, page 171 shows a foiling rudder on the stern of Simon Nelson's 3399 in 1994, did not catch on then, will they this time???

The rudder on 3251. One of the advantages for the swept back foils is that they do not hook up weed . To date we have had no greater problems with weed than with a conventional rudder, and that includes sailing at Salcombe and at the RVYC. Putting the foil off/on re tacking is very easy and the loads light, however if in a short tacking situation leave it off and nothing is lost, and then play again when in open water.

The foiled rudder in 3521. Before I used the rudder I had a chat with Jo to get his advice on its use. When going into a tack the rudder control is let off by the crew to its neutral position and after the tack is compleated pulled on again. This stops the foil stalling the boat. With normal use of the rudder the control lines do not effect the rudder angle as they are lead back to the transom before leading to the centre of the boat. When the rudder is full on the tip of the blade is indead forward of the transon. The set up worked well and the boat is now in the shed for a few minor winter mods.

General National 12 chat / Re: T-Foils

I have just fitted a T-Foil to 3521. This is a standard foil and stock made by Composite Craft. Used it a Salcombe for the first time and it seemed to work well, big advantage it just fits on normal rudder fittings. In reply to your question who knows that is best, it is the time to play and try, but it does look good.

I have sailed with a c/main for longer than most 12 sailors have been sailing, its not a problem. The boat will be at Northamton this weekend. 3521. The Ginger Pudding

N3519. Had my second visit to see the latest 12 this afternoon. I am sure when it makes its enterance it will be a real talking point. It proves that there is still alot of scope to move forward with our current rules. If it does not make Burton week I will bring some pics.
Off to Cowes Dinghy week starting tomorrow

Look at the newsletter of 2005 page 27, your poster is already there. It shows all the best of 12's. Also as the front of the newsletter  says ' 12 feet of perfection'

This boat is in very good condition and is housed at the Classic Boat Museum, Newport IoW.  Has a very nice suit of cotton Ratsey & Lapthorn sails.  Most of the fitting are original.

The MAGIC PUDDING was built in 1999. I sailed the boat in the 1999 Burton week with Emily and we won the Clinker trophy and the Brick. There is a picture in the last hand book of a windy sail at Pevensey. I then sold the MP and it was sailed on the IoW before being stored away where she  was damaged. The boat has since been returned to myself for a rebuild and is now up for sale.
