Trent Valley's N12 open meeting is on Sunday 11th May; the meeting is for all types of N12 including Vintage, Four Plank, and Admirals Cup.

Races will be at 14:05, 15:05 and after tea at 17:05, being 5 minutes after the club handicap race starts.

No entry fee/no prizes but a donation of £5 is requested to cover costs.

Full sailing instructions will be available on the day, but if you have been to Trent Lock before please be aware that the old buoy numbering system, which has survived since the first ever N12 open meeting with only one update for the "Goddard Chicane", has now been revised for your entertainment!  :-\

It would be helpful if you could let me know if your coming to join us: paul@ryehillfarm.com

Excellent idea! We did run the HD Four Plank series for four years between 2014 and 2017 so perhaps revive and merge? Only problem for me will be which boat to sail! China Doll or Cheshire Cat - love 'em both.... :-\

Hi Alan. There will be no lunch but teas can be booked on arrival. The steward puts a menu out in the saloon and those wanting tea jot down their choice. So far we now have 5 entries confirmed, but sadly that doesn't include me; I've been grounded again, but this time by the osteopath (not knees or shoulder this time, but spine :-\ .)

The TVSC open meeting is on 19th May; the races will be at 14:05, 15:05 and 17:05 starting five minutes after the club handicap series races. We will have a break at 16:00 for the legendary Trent Valley tea but how many would want lunch? We need to know soonest to help the steward plan for catering.

Greetings Vintage Yotters.

URGENT NOTICE

The Vintage Champs tomorrow and Sunday has been postponed because of the serious wind forecast/ yellow warning from the MET Office. We are looking to re-run possibly at Solway on the weekend of 30th September/1st October, but watch out for announcements.

Boats / Re: N2399 Mr. Jones

I received this email a few days ago:

Dear Paul,
Thought I would drop you a line to let you know my father, C M Jones (always known as Martin and the designer of Mr Jones) turns 90 this August. I didn't know if you had any photos you could share of her sailing/ restoration as he and my mother, who met him through sailing, were pleased to hear people are still enjoying the boats he designed. He designed the boat for a chap called Hugh Welbourne who apparently asked my father for the design to be extreme! My father moved onto sailing Squibs in the early 70s in which he taught me to sail before moving on to gliding in retirement and moving down to Cornwall where my parents now live, although I now live in the Midlands for work reasons.
Kind regards
Ben Jones

Following several further emails I delivered Mr Jones to Ben this morning together with a pack of various old documents charting the history of N2399. I believe that Ben's intention is to take Mr Jones down to Cornwall to sail.

Hi Paul, Saw your item of 24th May on the Nat 12 site .

I would like to add to the history you have on Smuggler.

I bought it from Rowsel boat yard in the late 1970`s and sold it to a guy from Wales about 1984/5.

I live in Barnstaple, North Devon and have attached a pic of me in the Torridge at Instow .It was a surprise to learn that she was still being used.

Hope you manage to sell her .

Thank you peeps for the various enquiries; all the spare sails (and carbon boom) have now gone. It's just the surplus boats to sell...
