Hope you enjoy the boat as much as The Old Man Of The Sea did before his hip operations.

How old are the sails, as this may well be your problem?

I bet that none of the weather sites had reckoned on the waterspout and tornado at Hunstanton.

All I can say to what happened last week at Hunstanton is Pukka Pies ~ don't compromise!

Looking at the bit at the bottom of your message above, I think that you would not really want to buy this boat. I remember sailing against her years ago and she was definitely better off in the large stretches of water. She always seemed to go better in the heavier stuff, but it may have been the nut on the end of the tiller, I cannot remember to be honest

I realise this may not be the answer that you are looking for, but if you are interested and have a bit of time on your hands, try the download about making your own boom. Yeah it looks easy, but I bet it is not quite as easy as it reads, but good luck

There may be no red cars, but an Ice Cream van has just driven along past the webcam and a silver one at Wells ;)

With a bit of luck some of the Ice Cream Men will be up in Scotland and Joe will be on hand to knock down any sandcastles that Ellie, Toby or any other child has built. His big sister will then apologise for his behaviour and rebuild them. Aiming to bring up the caravan to allow the family a smidge of luxury and as far as the kids are concerned it beats sleeping in the Ice Cream van

Thanks as mentioned above to one and all at Naburn for the sun and fun over the weekend. I overcooked myself in the afternoon and felt a bit ill all night. Still should be well enough by the weekend.

I have to go with John on the Robin thing, but an easy way to find out would be either to look on the 14s website, I am sure they will have something to say on POW results. Failing that, nip down to a second hand bookshop and see if you can get hold of Robin's book Marks to Starboard which does for the 14s what When Dinghies Delight does for the 12s

Memories of Tummel Week seem now to be coming out of the woodwork. Went there ages ago to do some research on Ice Creams north of the border and managed a bit of sailing with aged parents. Main memory was of the midgies when camping and a sheep scaring the living daylights out of one of my brothers. He has had a penchant for eating lamb ever since.  :)

Which ice creams as of course I think I know where the best ice creams are to be had on the Norfolk circuit and they are at Overy Staithe, but I am open to suggestions as to where there may be some better ones. Business will of course be conducted as I am sampling any of their wares.   ;)

Well Roly Mo the old fella may be a perfectionist, but if memory served me rightly the bag was just tied in across the stern of the boat with about ten miles of rope to the bottom fittings for the normal bags and then to an eye that he screwed in to the inside of the transom. I am sure that you could take the rope or tape to the top and bottom fittings for the bags in the stern.

;D well well Paul, Richard has cashed in his pension, he claims it was not worth a bean and has bought a Chapter, so hopefully will be there, but will it be a tussle between sailing his Chapter or his crew's boat we have to ask ourselves.... all to be revealed in time I am sure. :D

a long time ago my old fella had a Tigress and although he spent most of his time sailing inland and did not do too much swimming, he put a small, and I mean really diddy bag across the stern of the boat attached to the hog, transom and the rails that held in the bags at the stern of the boat. If memory serves me right it was something like a 25lb bag which would help you to lift the stern even if it was full of water. Despite there being a bag in the way of the transom flaps, if it was windy enough to go plink plink fizz there was enough wind to get the water out past the bag and through the flaps. Beam reaches are good to get water out.  ;)
