The Salcombe 12's are looking forward to the open meeting on 30th April 1st and 2nd May, and hoping that lots of you will come and join in the fun. The estuary was superb yesterday with blue skies a fresh NE with planing, cheeeky wind shifts and capsizes for some. We have booked the SYC chart room for a class dinner on the Saturday night. The views and venue are superb. Please do join us; to do so book a place when you enter or with Jools at the bar. The club also has a cadet room with a tv that can be helpful for families.
The racing can be watched from the club terrace, Fisherman's cove, Smalls cove or Mill Bay beaches.  Most of the local sailors keep their dinghies on Smalls cove just by the start line. Visitors are warmly welcome to pop onto Smalls Cove for pre or post race fratenising but its not possible to store vistors boats there overnight. Sorry.
We will be making a presentation to Brian who has been club steward for 25 years and seen many of us through our formative sailing and drinking years. if you would like to contribute let Helen ( Para-docs 3534 know).
Look forward to seeing you on the water

Hi Helen
Is anything going on on the Friday now that it is a bank holiday?  Will the club be open Friday night?  Hoping so....
John

Lukepiewalker

Surely you'll be thwarted by the thousands of street parties...

JohnMurrell

Meds,
Yes the Club wil be open as usual on the Friday. We may have access to a 'big screen' so that Royalists can indulge their passions whilst the Republicians can enjoy a day off on the Royalists..................................
Oh, and everyone can sup more beer at the Bar too!

Grandma Pat who knows the goings on in Salcombe informs us that there is a 'street party ' open to all in Cliff House adjoining SYC from 10-4 with a children's entertainer 11-1. cream teas from 2 p.m. Ideal grown ups can sup beer whilst children are entertained.

The unusual Tom Stewart / Zoe Ballantyne pairing heads the results after three races and judging from the DNFs and DNCs, there's probably a deal of wind.

For what its worth Brownie has now got an entry in the Guniness Book of Records for the number of equal pieces its possibly to blow a carbon mast into!
And a few pictures of the action

JohnMurrell

Thank you to all the visitors, the flying Grannies/child care,  and photographers, who made the Salcombe open such a memorable weekend; notable were the Whites whose ability to stay upright defies either gravity or their BMI; 2 masts , 2 tillers, lots of swimming lessons, a fine carvery, exhillerating planes , terrifying gybe. See you for more in October?
