Ripon Sailing Club are delighted to announce that their offer to host the cancelled Gill meeting has been accepted and that the weekend of 6 and 7 October will now be a Gill meeting.  We still have lots of detail to sort out and Chadders and I will be spending some time on that today, but we are looking forward to a great weekend of sailing and socialising and hope that we will have a great turnout for the event.
Camping will be available at Ripon SC on Friday and Saturday nights and our wonderful Galley team are laying on food during both days and also providing a supper on Saturday night.  If time permits I will prepare one of my dastardly quizzes and we will make sure the bar is stocked with plenty of good beer and fine wine.
Our Race Team for the event are ex 12 sailors who we know will provide us with some great courses so all we need now is some sunshine and a good wind!  Last year it was so warm we had a BBQ after sailing, so fingers crossed!

Great news I will be there maybe even on Friday night to keep Ed company (whether he wants it or not). This actually means that for the second time in the history of National 12s a Beyts may qualify for the gill series, but must not count my chickens before they hatch.....memories of Gratham a couple of years ago, 400 odd miles just to watch some very still water!

Hi all just to confirm re YEADON OPEN MEETING-
All sailing has been suspended at Yeadon due to blue green algae and as we will now be holding Ripon as a two day Gill event in place of the weed plagued Hykeham event we will not be sailing the Yeadon Open Meeting this year.  Hopefully all the Yeadon Fleet will however be sailing at Ripon (not least as we can't sail at Yeadon until given the all clear).  I can confirm that I will be sailing Triada and looking forward to picking up some much needed Vintage, Northern and Gill points all in one go!
Big thank you too to Ripon and Yorkshire Dales Sailing Clubs for allowing our Yeadon members to join them over the coming weekends and keep sailing until our water is clear again.
My understanding is that we will be sailing 3 races on Saturday and then two races on Sunday in order to minimise disruption with the Ripon Club racing and I am sure this will be great weekends sailing despite the attempts of weed and blue green algae to spoil things and I cant wait for Jennie's quiz!

Jennie Clark

Oh heck Howard, now I need to think of some questions!

Please post here if you are coming along, our ace RO team have just confirmed that they will run the Sunday racing for us and the Galley Team are busy planning a great meal on Saturday night (alongside their normal 'daytime' fare) so all we need now is sunshine, wind and LOTS OF 12'S!

Greetings - and be afraid coz Angus is planning to take Shotgun N2359 to Ripon! ??)

And Christine and I will be there with the recently re-launched China Doll (the China Doll N2403) - although this is subject to some urgent repairs being sorted by then!!!8) Px

PS to Jennie - do you have a list of local decent B&Bs please? I do NOT do camping! ;D

Jennie - I have a couple of quizzes ready to roll if you you need a volunteer! They have already been tested with no harm done to the victims (namely TVSC and Attenborough SC!) Px :-/

Yes the thought of Angus armed with (a) shotgun is very worrying! Great news re crews....

What is the earliest/latest i can arrive to camp on Friday and will someone be around to point me in the right direction?

Jennie Clark

I don't have an accommodation list but if you look for B&B's in Knaresborough, Boroughbridge or Wetherby those are all close by.  The General Tarleton Inn is in the village of Ferrensby (less than a mile from the club) and does a good mid week rate I'm told but am not sure about weekend rates.  If I get chance to do some research I will post a list on here.  The Days Inn at Wetherby is probably the cheapest place to stay.
In terms of those who are coming to camp, you can arrive between 6pm and 10pm on the Friday night (possibly later but only if agreed in advance as the crew needs her sleep) and one of us will be around to point you in the right direction.  In addition to the normal food through the day and an evening meal, the galley will be serving breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, and the bar will be open on Friday and Saturday nights.

I will not now be arrriving Friday night due to the need to pick up shotgun, so see you all Saturday morning.

Hi Jennie - thanks for the info. What are the times of the races please (so I can sort out a logistics and crew allocation situation!). Px

Jennie Clark

Our intention, but it is still to be finalised, is to run the first race on Saturday at 11.30am with 2 more to follow during the afternoon.  There will then be 2 races on Sunday probably starting at around 10am and noon so that we can fit the normal club racing in at 11am and still get all the 12's off home at a reasonable time.    I hope to get a revised NOR sorted out by the end of the week.

Brian Kitching is also coming but will be leaving his immaculate Chimp at home and slumming it in N3356 Squidgy Bits.  Who else is coming to play?  No need to be shy please let us know if you are coming and have not already posted.

Jennie Clark

The NOR and SI's are now available via the Ripon SC website (www.ripon-sc.org).  Broadly speaking the arrangements are:
Saturday - briefing 11am, first race 11.30 with 2 further races to follow, Sunday - first race 9.45, with a further race to follow.  5 races, 4 to count.
Camping is available on site on Friday and Saturday nights but please let us know if you are arriving on Friday so we can look out for you.  We'd prefer it if you arrived before 10pm please - we need our beauty sleep!   Our galley will be open on Saturday and Sunday and the Galley Girls are planning breakfasts, lunches and a supper on Saturday night.  The bar is stocked with some fine wines and local ales - what more could you ask for (other than good wind and sunshine!).

Howard did you say a chimp is coming leaving his imaculate kitchen with squidgy behind to sail bits?
