For those that are coming up to Ripon, the blue external gates will require a key code to open for entry and exit from the site. The code for Saturday only is 4521. If anyone needs access on Sunday then please contact me.

This yearís N12 Open at Ripon Sailing Club is on Saturday 2nd October. The £20 entry includes lunch and hot drinks, please let us know if you have any specific dietary needs. This covers helm and crew, additional non-sailors can be accommodated for £5. We will try to get the prize giving under way as quickly as possible, as we realise that some of you will be needing to get away. For those that can stay longer the bar will be open for those not driving, camping is available if you both wish to indulge.

Yeadon Open is on the Sunday so feel free to camp at Ripon and then join in with the event at Yeadon which is only Ĺ hour away.

We have an active junior fleet at Ripon and Fiona Spence is keen to get as many of them exposed to double handers as possible. If you are short of a crew, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to find someone for you.

Please be aware that Ripon is currently experiencing an exceptional level of weed growth and this will affect certain areas of the water. The weed is rooted not floating and in specific locations, we are managing to continue normal club racing. A map of the affected areas will be posted on the notice board so you all know where to avoid.

Boats / Re: N3502 Carbonara
« on: May 25, 2020, 11:05:31 PM »
Carbonara changed hands October 2019 and now lives at Ripon sailing club. The first capsize allowed me to check the centreboard, which turned out to have a few dings in it. First time I've seen a hatchet centreboard, this one apparently comes from a 505? Still getting used to the difference from my previous 12, a Crusader '88 - at the moment we seam to be going slower! Once we can get back to sailing and racing I'm sure it will get better.

Boats / Re: N3330 Baloo

Baloo was a belated 40th present to get me back into sailing and do what my father did - teach my children to sail and spend time with them without any distractions. 8 years latter and I have two children who can helm and crew in any weather and are not afraid of capsizing. And still speak to their Dad. My sailing has improved and I have loved owning and keeping a gorgeous smooth hulled wooden boat. Things change and I now have Carbonara, double bottom and composite, easier maintenance and a new sailing challenge for my more experienced crews.

Emma and Christopher are going to miss Baloo but her new owner, Ben Ward, is starting the same journey and will be teaching his two children to sail at North Hykeham sailing club.

Folks, at this yearís N12 Open at Ripon the £20 entry includes a ďPie & PeaĒ supper for helm and crew (additional non-sailor supper is £4). This will be served immediately after the prize giving, which we will try to get under way as quickly as possible, as we realise that some of you will be needing to get away. For those that can stay longer some fun and games are being organised by Jennie Clark. Oh, and the bar will be open for those not driving, camping is available if you both wish to indulge.

The galley will be open during the day for lunches and hot drinks.

Yeadon Open is on the Sunday so feel free to camp at Ripon and then join in with the event at Yeadon which is only Ĺ hour away.

Iím afraid progress requires that we now all go to the Ripon web site and book on for the event Ė it does help considerably with the planning. Link is: https://www.ripon-sc.org.uk/event/nat-12-open-double-handers-1-1

We have an active junior fleet at Ripon and Fiona Spence is keen to get as many of them exposed to double handers as possible. If you are short of a crew, please let us know as soon as possible and we will find someone for you. We even have the odd adult willing to come out and play in the front of a 12.

The event will be a joint Open with the Enterprises, so it should prove to be very busy and social as well as the usually competitive racing. Hope to see you all at Ripon.

Hello Angus

Iíll be bringing Baloo up from Ripon with Emma crewing for me. A bit of boat logistics first as Christopher is Opi Zone squading at Derwent the same weekend but we should make the briefing.

We potentially have some of our junior sailors available to crew for anyone struggling to find a crew for this weekend. If anyone could do with a crew please let me know as soon as possible so we can get people organised. Would be great to give them the experience of sailing such a rewarding boat.

The Ripon Sailing Club open meeting is on 7th October and we look forward to seeing as many vintage, 4 plank, AC and double bottom N12's out sailing together. The water provides good close competitive racing and there will be a galley open through out the day for lunches and refreshments. Camping is available for free on Saturday night for those wishing to spread the traveling over two days or are staying for the Yeadon Open on the Sunday, it's less than an hours drive.

If anyone needs a crew please let me know as we have some good junior sailors who are up for the challenge. If you need a helm I can probably find one as well.

Depending on numbers we can either arrange an evening meal with the galley catering team or Ali will bring in fish & chips while the boats are being packed away. Please let us know if you can make it and what your preference is for an evening meal.

Tim, Ali and family look forward to seeing you.

Ripon Sailing Club look forward to welcoming all National 12 sailors to the club for our annual open meeting on 1st October 2016. As ever a friendly event in great surroundings with a galley open all day. There is the option to camp over night if you want a leisurely drive back or even better be close at hand for the Yeadon Open on Sunday. As before there is the offer of an evening meal with some fun and games, although some idea of numbers would be helpful for our caterers - the sooner the better please.

Tim, Ali and family look forward to seeing you.
