A mighty 108 Teams competed in the 2010 National 12 Gill Series.
Seven events were sailed at venues around the country from as far South
and West as Salcombe and as far North as Solway.
In the main fleet, the series went down to the wire with Jon Ibbotson
and Charlotte Stewart in Blue Kangaroo doing enough in the final race of
the final event to hold off the late run of former winner Tom Stewart
crewed at this event by Rachel Williamson. The first boat without a
winged rudder finishing 4th overall was Silver Lining sailed
by Chris Day and Sophie Richards, Christian and Sophie competed in every
event.
Nick Copsey was the star of the series, he finished first in both the
Admiral’s Cup (pre 3414) and Junior sections and all in his first year
of serious helming; he also had a different crew at each event!
Stevie Sallis, crewed by daughter Joanne, retained the honour of being
the first family team.
The prize winners all went home with pockets full of Gill vouchers and
those who did well at events throughout the year won Gill base layers,
hats and towels.
The National 12 class thank Gill for their continued sponsorship, all
the clubs who hosted the events and Charlotte and Tom Stewart for their
work in organising the series and looking after the results.
