Yes it is true!

I have now got a new weekend job at Evolution Sailing (formerly New Starboard and Red Eye Sails)!

I am now officially Finance Director - well they didn't hire me for my sailing skills, did they!

Already had one email - let me quote Mr Gill - Welcome to the Marine Trade, I hope you were warned that the only way to make a small fortune in the marine trade is to start off with a large one! ;D Thanks Nick!

You will hear a lot more about Evolution Sailing - watch this space!

tedcordall

Some of have heard of them already.

I've got a Redeye Solution single hander. The Solution has a hull made by Ovington's and is fitted out and marketed by Evolution. Lots of fun.

TC (though if such a thing as crew existed, I'd have a 12 of course)

Having known Nick for many years, it seems he has made a fortune go a long way!

In a similar vein to the above, Nigel Waller was once asked what he would do if he won the lottery and he replied that he would keep building boats until the money ran out!

I was asked, if I won the lottery, what I would do about the begging letters. I replied that I would keep sending them!

The old ones are the best ones and Mr Gill has certainly resurrected on old un!

Good luck in your new role

Hi Ted!

Glad that you are happy with your Solution; if there are any problems you know where we are! They are selling so fast I have still not had a chance to sail one yet!  :o

Hi Simon!

Thank you for your good wishes; it's proving to be a very interesting new challenge. I have been telling clients how to run their businesses for the last 300 years - now I have got to do it for myself (and my three co-directors)! Incidentally - did you know that there are three types of accountant? Those that can count and those that can't!

And meanwhile, now that I am back sailing we are currently beating all the Merlins and Lasers at Trent Valley in the winter handicap series in the old China Doll! 8)

PS MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT FROM EVOLUTION ABOUT SAILS VERY SOON! ;D

rumour control suggests Alverbanks have sold out to 'big' business.  Whatever next? off the shelf N12's?

Roly Mo

IS THIS TRUE ?????????? :-/

TEAM ROLY MO

I wanted to order a fresh Kevlar main from them.

Now they'll be forced to ask me what colour I'd like it in.....And they'll tell me it's machine washable....

Oh B*ll**ks!

Jimbo41

Good news!!!

It's bizzness as usual at Alverbanks!!!

No questions about whether I wanted machine-washable sails or not....

Phew!  :o :B

Richard Pilgrim

Mr Turner, as I (for my shame) usually sit in the front end of a Merlin in the TVSC Winter Series, I think I can safely say that your claim that you are beating ALL of the Merlins and Lasers is a tad over generous, even on handicap. Take this very last Sunday, for example....  :K)

Greetings All!

Yes Jimbo it is true!

We at EVOLUTION are absolutely delighted that Kevan Bloor has joined our team and with our resources and his skill and experience we will be able to continue to give you the excellent customer service and specialist care and quailty that you came to expect from ALVERBANK SAILS.

The ALVERBANK name stays - so does the phone number (01332 342586)! And Kevan will be posting some special offers very soon!

And shame on you Richard Pilgrim for selling out to the Merlins. Incidently it was the Vice Commode (he who works out the results) wot told me we were winning on handicap (but after Sunday's capsize we may have slipped a little)!

Hi Barry!

Good to hear from you! NWNW 2006 was good fun, wasn't it! Have already booked accomodation and crews for 2007! I did an article for the Ratchet about the 2006 week (view from the back of the fleet!) which went to Alex Gore who was going to do one from the front and pass it on - but seems the stories have gone astray?

If you go to "what is an Admirals Cup boat?" on page 3 of the discussion group you will find the notes about Crazy Diamond - Mike Cooke has now taken the floor out and we have an interesting bouyancy layout. She is on her way to our spray shop for customising in EVOLUTION corporate colours for re-launching at Notts County on New Years Day. Will get some photos and post these soon.

And don't forget Kevan's chandlery and fittings sale! :D

Cheers, Paul
