Hi all. I am looking at organising a training day in October, probably at Northampton S C. Any one interested?

As part of thew fantastic new GUL series, which starts in a couple of weeks at Burghfield with coaching and Racing, our title sponsors <strong style="color: #1d1f22; font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial; line-height: 15px; background-color: #f2f5f7;">GUL[/b] are offering an end of season prize in partnership with Watergate Bay Hotels of a weekend for two at their luxury sports hotel in Cornwall with surf coaching . A draw will take place at the last GUL event of the year at Northampton Sailing club, those who enter the GUL series get their name in the pot! Each time you participate in a GUL event this year your name will go in the draw- so the more GUL events you do, the greater the chance you have of winning this weekend break.

Have we all remembered that if you enter and sail at a Gul event you are entered into a raffle to win a weekend away at a watersports hotel! Who is going to be at Hunstanton?

Meds was trying to flog me an inflatable tender this morning! Perhaps he is the man, he needs a bigger fleet!

Sad news. Tim Tomlinson died yesterday. Tim sailed built and measured Twelves for longer than I can remember. Tim was class chairman in 1965, he aso built numerous boats in the 70's and a carbon fibre double floored design 8 this century.
Tim measured most of the P&B produced Foolishes and DCBs and I enjoyed his company on all these occasions and always came away a little wiser. I will always remember buouyancy testing the first double floored Foolish with Tim and Patrick Elcombe, we loaded the boat with weights and then tried to fill the boat with water, on the grounds that the water wouldn't stay in the boat it was decided that the boat passed but we had better review the rules on buoyancy testing!
Tim was a leading member of Middle Nene Sailing Club, where having retired from Twelve sailing he took up sailing a Flying Fifteen. I think Tim enjoyed boat maintenance as much as the sailing as anyone who knew him will testify, I doubt any other classic fifteen has as much carbon built in.
Tim leaves behind a loving family and many devoted friends.

Sounds like a great event. I am impressed to hear that Christian and Sophie camped. Hard as nails!

Thanks to all at Shoreham for a great event. The sailing was excellent if a bit chilly.

It's always sunny and force 4 at Shoreham. If you ever meet a sailor who has travelled from Shoreham to sail somewhere else they always have a sad but wistful look. This is because they are wondering why they left their beloved home to travel to an inferior venue, what is more hey are generally right, which is why you should hitch your boat on to the back of your car and turn up for at least one day of the Shoreham open!

I can't wait for Shoreham! The best sea sailing with the easiest launching. If you can, please support this event, we need clubs that want to hold meetings!

Hi Pierrick,
We supply long Superspar masts. They are joined below deck level but well sorted.

Thank you to all those who came and even better took part. Since you all left the area normality has returned Force 3-4 sunny, typical week day weather.
I thought the pursuit race was fantastic especially the vintage boats, they looked fantastic, I can't wait to see the pictures.

Antony,
3395's Board was very stiff in the case and I don't believe it ever gybed!
I don't like the idea of altering the angle of attack of the board but the Ex 505 World Champ who sits across from me wouldn't be with out a gybeing board.
I certainly wouldn't let it put me off the boat as stopping the board from gybeing is very easy.

Antony,
Your comments have already reached the NWNSA committee. I am assured that Adrian resigned due to work pressure. I too am disappointed not to be sailing at Brancaster, still the most important thing for us, as well as for the organisers of the week, is to make sure that everyone knows about the pre-entry and gets themselves organised.
Perhaps we can do some early evening sailing at Brancaster with the Children instead.

WARNING! The entries for the Hunstanton weekend of the Gill Series has been limited to 65 boats, this includes all boats and not just Twelves. There were 69 boats last year and already there has been loads of interest from Twelve sailors, with various people who don't normally go planning to do the week.
Entries forms can be downloaded from the NWNSA website  http://www.norfolkweek.co.uk/ If you are planning on going (week or wekend) please enter as soon as possible and let us know via the forum.
You cannot enter on the day at Hunstanton, so please avoid disappointment and act now!
