Is anyone going to the handicap event at Datchet next weekend? It's part of the GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series and you can enter online. We've signed up for this one, the Bloody Mary, Steve Nicholson and Tiger Trophy - hopefully see a few 12s out over the winter.

If anyone is looking for a crew, please let me know. There are some crews available at the club. Also if you're looking for a helm...

Hi everyone,

Whilst there is still plenty of sailing left in 2014, the NTOA Committee have already started planning for next year. Attendance at some of the open meetings in the calendar has been a point of discussion a few times this season and we also discussed changing the format of some meetings at the AGM at Pevensey with a clear interest in some short sprint racing and handicap racing. With all of that in mind it seems like the perfect opportunity to get the views of everyone who is interested in sailing 12s.

Please could you take a few minutes to complete the brief fixtures survey as soon as you can. There is also space in the survey for your comments and ideas. The survey can be found here:

Many thanks,

We've just signed up. 5 N12s so far. 5 Ents, 5 Larks and 4 Merlins...this is starting to get competitive and we've got a bit of catching up to do with the Scorpions!

Online Entry is now open for the Leigh and Lowton SC Regatta.

This year's regatta will be held over the weekend of 13th-14th July and the 12s will join in handicap fleet for 3 races each day (first start 12pm Saturday and 11am Sunday). Prizes will be awarded each day (2 races to count each day) and both days combined will count towards the Northern Area Series (4 of 6 to count).

Camping is available on site and there will be a BBQ, Bottle Boat Race and Disco on Saturday evening. Bring your bottle boat with you or at least some plastic bottles, tape and plastic bags - I'm wondering if you can make a bottle boat foil!

All the information you need including NoR, SIs and other info is on the LLSC website www.llsc.org.uk  Please book early as this event is very popular and numbers may have to be limited. There's pre-entry discount and you also get a free T-shirt if you enter online. If you have any questions give me a shout.

Hope to see you there!

Really don't want to miss this one! We're planning to make the trip down from Manchester so will probably be very late pitching our tent - hope that's ok.

With just over a month to the start of Burton Week 2013 in Brixham, here are my top 5 things to remember for the event:

Your fancy dress â€" this year come as your boat, someone else’s boat or any 12 design. There are lots to choose from so check out the boat database and start thinking laterally (or think of what you want to go as and find a tenuous link!). There’ll be prizes and prestige for the best costumes on the Sunday night.

The Burton Week courses â€" we have a new course “D” for Burton 2013, the sausage/triangle. This is the same as the old Olympic course “A” with the laps reversed so make sure you know which one we’re doing…especially if you’re thinking of leading at the windward mark!

Your Burton Week T-shirt (or hoody or sweater) â€" join in with all the junior helms and crews who will be wearing their free tees. You can order yours now from: www.waveclothing.co.uk/catalog/category/view/s/national-12-owners-association/id/259/

Your measurement certificate â€" it’s easy to forget this one but it will save you time (and £10).

Your boat â€" if helm and crew turn up, look at each other and both say, “I thought you were bringing the boat”…it won’t be the first time!

Finally, if you haven’t entered already make sure you get your entry in by the 7th May for the early entry discount fee of only £100 (£60 for under 21s).

Free Burton Week T-shirts!

All junior sailors (helms and crews) will receive a free Burton Week t-shirt in Brixham, so get your entry in now or nag your helm until they do.

Here's what the design looks like...you might not have as much facial hair as the model!
