Just a week away.... any takers?

Hi All,
The final open meeting for the Midland Area (+ series prizegiving) will be held at Olton Mere SC on Saturday 25th October.
Three races, 2 to count
Briefing 10:30
First Gun 11:00
Entry fee £10
Would be great to finish off the series this year with a good turnout. We should put 4 or 5 boats on the water, and the more visitors the merrier! I have booked sunshine and steady wind.
Visitors always welcome to stay for club racing on the Sunday.
Food is in the pipeline - I will confirm later. Please help us plan by letting me know if you hope to come.
Cheers,
Chris

Boats / Re: N2993 Bouncer

Bouncer has arrived safely back at Olton Mere SC, bought from Si Payne as his crew left him for a national squad.
Si did a great job refurbishing the hull and foils, added a new moth-inspired winged rudder (powered by Mach2 and shimano) and a new suit of Ullman's.

Sorry couldn't make it in the end. All set to leave this morning with a car refusing to start...

Hi Tim, the weather for saturday looks ok with gentle breeze and perhaps a rain shower.
Any other takers?

I should be there all being well

Calendar at Olton is flexible - and happy to hold a 2nd event.

My chapter may be a much newer design, and has had a double bottom retro-fitted, but is a wood built 4 planker - and from what I remember, weighs more than my chesire cat did, so no advantage in that. It also fits the class definition of an Admirals Cupper - the double floor makes no difference, and I would guess that it would confer little advantage, as capsizes are pretty rare when you think about it. I'd also argue that the choice of venue may give a design advantage to some of the narrower boats over mine.
We have several 4 plankers at the Mere - we'd be happy to add this to our meeting in October.

My chapter is of course 4 plank but I don't think I'm particularly in danger of upsetting any balance!

Will be along for the racing on Sunday for certain. Training on Sat is crew dependent

It's less than 2 weeks 'til the final open meeting of the MAAT 2012. The ladies tell me that there will be a variety of soups available for lunch. Please let me know if you know you are coming, so I can give them an idea of quantity. I also have a supply of eager crews if you are struggling to find anyone.
If you would like to stay and sail our 2-handed regatta on the following day, and need somewhere to stay, contact Naomi or Gill Bilton, who may be able to sort you out.
