Design 8 is good and comes in plastic.
I have been a member of Stuanton Harold and have family members at Swarkstone. Staunton is a cut and thrust racing club. It has easy launching and the water presents no problems.
Swarkstone is a good relaxed family club, Overnight camping and caravaning is no problem.Racing is good and there is sail training every Saturday.(Run by members of my family).
Launching is by slipway and pontoon.
If you ring me on 01775 714129 I will  arrange a visit for you.

First. You will be out of class  so no PY so no race.
Second. The extra power might pull an old boat apart.
Third. Is the cost of fitting the spinnaker. You will be rigging a 1off system, and you might need a stronger mast or fit a puller. The puller would be £70 plus. (Just fitted a new one to my Merlin).

Hi, You have done a good job on the boat, I remember it when it was at Hykeham. Peter Diamand was a good builder, built some nice Merlins to. Hope it goes well for you. It likes puffy wind.:)

Just bought a new guitar, the company I bought from only deliver Monday to Thuresday. They claim, the weekend parcel staff nick the goods.
When I worked for kodak as a photographer we stopped using Special Delivery and changed to Recorded Delivery for the same reason.

Boats / Re: N3271 Indecision
24 Mar 2011, 08:57
We bought Indecision Sept.2006. The hull was in good condition having just had a pro-repaint, but needed a total refit. We took 2 buckets of sheeting out of the boat and replaced with new. We also changed the toe straps, gasket slot tape and transome flaps, and fitted lowers.
I moved the mast foot and adjusted the spreder length(made them longer) and reset the spreader angle.
The boat came with new Mac. sails, John Sears kindly measured them at a Trent Valley open and Kevin Bloor recut the jib as it was backing the main.( They are now text book...brilliant).

We owned Magice Pudding and a a D8 at the same time. The D8 is much faster than the Man-O-War which is wye we still own and sail the D8. We sat on a good Allby today in light winds(7mph) and we had 25 stone in the boat.
The important thing is to get on the water, buy a boat, get sailing, and move on to a better -- faster boat at the end of the season.

Hi, and welcome to the class. My Son and daughter live near North Berwick, There were some N12's sailed there. I remember a Rough Diamond being sailed there.

I wen't in to my local fishing tackle shop on Sat.(just passing). They had 1.8m carbon landing nets, 1piece, just right for the job.Price £18
TV arial pole are another cheap alternative for alley. Or local Steal stockist. i use ACS Metals Lincoln 01522-501777
I have 2 poles, a P&B one and the first pole ever put on a twelve(the origonal),(collectors item). The later works best.
My crew complained about strech in the sheeting that the pole runs on, so I made one out of 2.5mm Diaform, she's pleased as punch now.

Thanks for the info on the now need, looks like I had better start building.
Thinking about cassette foil, putting the top of the leading edge on ecsentric cams, ie the cams will lift the front of the rudder to create the angle. The reverse of a Europe centreboard.
Dead cheap, dead ease.

Looks like the way to beat winged boat is lots of luffing and tacking,Don't let them sail in a straight line. That includes wing on wing.
How much faster are the winged boats?, Will it make much difference to the PY. Is it  that much faster, do I need one now?.

£19500 for Merlin thats cheap. Merlin's put a stop to wingged rudders some years ago, and again last year. Merlin sailors buy a boat as a ten year investment, ie. whats it going to cost me over ten years.(A ten year old Merlin will still see you at the front of the fleet in big events). The current Winder boats come out of the 1980-90 Turner Tales mold.
Now if if you buy a winged N12 and it puts you were you want to be and the boat is easy to live with and their are no new developments, then the price is worth paying and over ten years will work out cheaper than a night out in a night club once a week.
PS. This years Gill winning boat was built in1998, how's that for value for monny.

What about the Mericks at Rutland in. Feb. This is after all a youth event, and Rutland is a very central location. Cool glasses.
