And back to the top we go.

I now have some of the replacement cleats that are needed.
However i have realised that the boat doesn't have a jibstick.

Hi, James,
if you are in the South east there is what appears to be an old Needlespar mast in the overflow park at Whitstable Yacht Club. if you ask them nicely they might let you have it for free. it needs some work on it though because the spreaders are a bit bent but nothing major.

hi tom,
the only problem with the skiff style is that if the rope slips out of your hand or you absent-mindedly drop it to pull the centreboard down then the whole thing flies out to the boom and then you tend to go swimming. with a deck block at least the rope stays nearby.

hi,
i spent some time in the winter converting mine to centre mainsheet because i feel more comfortable with it. i've made the system similar to the laser with the main block on the end of the centreboard box. seems to have worked ok when i went out today with it.

Hi all,
Having had some of the best sailing of last year either in a twelve or as a crew on a hornet with a sliding seat i have started wondering if combining the two would create the ultimate in sailing experiences. :o Would the rules of development of the 12 allow me to put a sliding seat on my 12?

hi andy, my twelve is at Seasalter SC on the North Kent coast. it is to the left of Whitstable! am on my tod as there are no other 12s in the club or at some of the other west kent clubs :'( there are some visitors from Brighton sailing club who are coming up to seasalter this year for a long weekend though but i think that would be a seperate club to you.

can antone suggest any rigging tips that can help me to fly the 12 flag at the front of the fleet or are these secrets kept by an order of sailing monks in tibet :X?

hi all,
as mentioned in a previous thread i am looking for a cheshire cat design 12 which has been mistreated lately as a project that would enable me to sell off my heavy old Paper Dart (a relief to many members of my club who are press-ganged into pushing her up the beach). if there are any out there that people know about could they let me know. i never put a healthy boat down.
cheers, Ben

thanks for your ideas.
if there is anyone out there who knows where there is an old cheshire cat or china doll design that is in dire straits could they get in touch with me? i would prefer to find one in Kent or Sussex but if there is any way that there is someone in a club further away from me who could bring one to kent that would be great.
Cheers, Ben

General National 12 chat / Re: outhaul

my paper dart has an internal outhaul system which i refitted last month. it took a thin screwdiver with a lagre flathead and a lot of cursing to get the end through the internal block. it is worth it though. last season i had to tie the outhaul off to the kicker block..
cheers for the sails by the way Jerry, the jibs holding out great and the main has been taped over so should last another season with luck and few capsizes.

have to argee with brian, would love to renovate another 12. finished my paper dart over the summer. however i wanted to put in a rear bouyancy tank into my design, curved like the old hornets used to be. however if anyone could put a nice cheshire cat or china doll my way to renovate, i wouldn't argue! the paper dart is a bit heavy due to lying in the club field for 5 years or so. a lighter boat would be appriciated by the crowd of people who have to helpme push my 12 over the wall after sailing. if there are any more clubless 12 owners in the south east it would be nice to get another one at Seasalter to race with and show up the local solos.
cheers, Ben
