Matt the training starts at 10:30 and Nick Martin is the coach. Louisa and I are going. First time on the water this year and first time in a twelve for eighteen months. Could be interesting. I am also gping to stay for the Sunday. BCYC is a really nice place to sail.

In the last few weeks I have decided to take my clinker built 12 to Salcombe Week Regatta. I would be interested to know if any other Classic Twelves would be interested in a weeks racing.
This would have the effect of boosting 12 numbers at the Regatta and racing with the modern fleet would provide some serious competition.

I owned" Billy the Hoover" for a while. Crewed by my son Matt. We bought the boat from Starcross. We sailed  it in the 2003 Burton Week at Looe, well off the pace as we had only bought the boat three weeks earlier. I lent it to a couple of lads who sailed it in the 2004 Burton Week at Weymouth. Upon return I sold it to someone in the Bournmouth area....
Will add pictures soon.

Boats / Re: N2134 Pippin

We. Matt and I rescued Pippin from a back garden in Bristol. It had been abandoned and left to fill with water. It had a green high tide mark on the inside at the same level as the top of the plate case.Eventually the weight of the water seperated the platecase from the hog.
A new platecase, new decks and some new sails and we had a first class classic Twelve. We did many opens with some very good results, even picking up a couple of Pots. The last time we saild Pippin was the Burton week a Porthpean.
Now awaiting repairs, when I get time.........

The bottom picture above is not Pippin.
(NTOA note: Picture looks to be N2131 Illusion - see N2131 post of February 5, 2007)

I was given Planet by a lady in Christchurch in 1989 she was the second owner. She had owned Planet from about a year old. I gave it a major restoration and saild it at several open meetings :- Trent Valley,Henley,Yorkshire Ouse and Earlswood Lake as well a Salcombe. Quite slow off wind it felt like sailing in a groove. Up wind it was quite quick.
I will add pictures when I can find some.
