General National 12 chat / Annandale
30 Mar 2010, 02:50
Yes its that time of year again, the first of the Scottish travellers is nearly here 17th 18th April, All of you who have been before will not need reminding of what a brilliant event this is with excellent sailing and a truely amazing social on the Saturday night with copious amounts of wine included in the cost (I have tried to drink them dry but never succeded).
For those of you planning on coming up from the deep south to the Gill event at Solway in August this will be the nearest event to you if you want to qualify for the Scottish travellers (only 2 events required).

There is a slight complication in that we had requested 5 races 2 on saturday and 3 on sunday with 3 to count so those who could not make the whole weekend could come on Sunday and still qualify. However as we are sharing the weekend with GP14s (and there tend to be more of them) Annandale propose to run four races on saurday and 3 on sunday.
I am suggesting that we disregard the first 2 races on Saturday unless no sailing is possible on Sunday to still allow this to happen, but I would like to know how people feel about this. I would also like to get some idea of how many people are planning on coming and particularly important those who wish to come for Sunday only (althpough you are missing a brilliant social, its the only time I can hold my own with the moles and aardvarks) so let me know either through this thread or at angus3 at tesco dot net

Maybe I should remind you that this is a Northern traveller as well, so those of you who were at Blaydon will be half way towards qualify for both Northern and Scottish series after this event.

A mistake in the national 12 calender has been pointed out to me. It shows two dates for the annandale open meeting. The correct days of 17th 18th April and the incorrect date of 1st 2nd of May. Any body turning up at the begining of May will not get quite what they are expecting. I don't have the calender myself so havn't been able to check. The dates on the website and in the mailing are correct.

General National 12 chat / 2966
19 Mar 2010, 08:16
I notice that 2966 has come up for sale on ebay, on looking up the bible the entry for 2966 appears rather blank, does anybody know why , or anything about this boat. I'm not really interested in the boat but it comes with a lunching trailer, is this a n AT version of a hostess trolley?8)

Not quite in Meds class I know but we, that is Rohan Fhinan and I are doing the Sports relief run again. This time we have stepped up to the three mile run. This doesn't mean you have to give three times as much, although we won't object if you do!
Giving could not be easier   http://www.mysportrelief.com/TeamPage.aspx?langPref=en-CA&teamID=47223
and have your credit card ready.
I have been in hard training, even running a half marathon a couple of weeks ago which included about 200m of thigh deep icey water (Good training for winter sailing), but sadly I have a horrible feeling I will be left (much as I am on the water) trailing in the wake of the two rabbits as they go Haring off, or are they hares rabbiting off.
Sorry I forgot to say out team is called the Discombobulators, which I am very confused about but Rohan and Fhinan seem to know what they are talking about

I have just been putting new neck and wrist seals on my new drysuit ahen I discovered a small tear in one of the socks, does anybody know if it is possible to repair this with a punture repair kit. I don't really want to lash out on a new sock when I have already spent so much on it:( especially as I will probably have to give it to the ever growing crew next year if not before........

An ex robin steavenson boat. Just down the road from me, I went to look at it when the guy first got it. Looks solid but needs to be taken back to the wood, it looks in very original condition.

The Final event of the scottish Travellers with 3 boats in contention. Jo and Greg are in pole position at the moment, but with Max Factor up for sale and Bernard playing at short John Silver is anybody going to give the aardvark a run for its money. I will be there of course but think I will have to deliver a broad side or somthing to have a chance.
This is a great venue and well worth the trip up. Any one wanting help with accomidation give me a call. Number in the book. The club is not allowing camping at the club this year due to damage that occured during a wet Tummel week.

Did anybody make it to North Berwick in the end. we had to cancell at the last minute. Heard it was a bit rough.

So thats the scottish Championships out of the way, the hasn't been a post for a whole day! So time to start planning for the next even, another superb venue 6th 7th June at North Berwick. This time we are mixing it with their regatta. Should be loads of fun. We will be there who else is up for it.
By the way this is the home of the commodores wife. The one who makes breakfast for everybody, drives a tractor to launch the rescue boat, crews for the Icecream man (and goes swimming with him) rescues aboat and does a bit of first aid on the side.......I think she probably did lunch as well.8)

For those who did not get there entry in in time, don't want to have to keep moving or don't want to catch crabs. Here is the perfect alternative especially if you have any topper or oppy sailors in the family. This is a great week espescially for the kids with plenty of activities for kids young and old. Agent Orange will be there. 26th to 31st july. There is nothing about in on there website yet but I am sure there will be shortly.   http://www.lochtummelsc.org/ltsc/

Having just recivied the latest copy of the hand book I notice that admiral cuppers can now be double bottomed, is this correct and if so when did this change occur. I know I am not the fastest but I totally missed any discussion on this, when did it occur. It does appear to me to be a bit of a pointless step in the wrong direction, but then who am I but a admiral cup boat sailor.

It seems like I have leave for Burton and my crew hasn't. I did consider just coming just for the weekend but after checking on AA route finder 1000 miles driving  4 races and a bit of jigging semed a recipie for disaster. So if any one fancies a front seat in a starfish for a pleasant drift round at the back of the fleet. Be warnd I expect a high degree of dedication from my crew. I cann't hold up the bar all by myself! Any one inteerested in this onerous duty can contact me on angus 3 at tesco.net

Came across this while looking for somebody who would sell me less than half a tonne of fertiliser. Don't know everybody who is interested may already know about it or better ones but no harm. While I'm at it does any body know where I can get 25kg of urea, idealy in liquid form (about 200litre)?:'(:'(:'(:'(:'(:'(.
No I'm not taking the piss!

I don't think I have any intention of buying another boat at the momeny but I must admit I do hanker after a glued ply boat (a proper clinker one would be too much like hard work) and I nntice 3133 8s up for sail again. so the obvious question is would she be allowed to compete in vintage meets?
