I am having new sails from HD, but the new sail area rules are providing loads of issues trying to get a jib to fit without chafing the lowers. Is anyone else having this trouble?

Main:
Luff 5485
Foot 2280
Area 6.253

Jib:
Luff 3850
LP 1219
Leech 3700
Area 2.347

Total: 8.6

Ebba is a standard Winder-built Foolish with original Super Spars 55mm carbon mast. The lowers come off the front of the mast at the gooseneck.

Hi all,

I wonder if someone is able to clarify for me please...

The 12Fest poster states camping is available on site and the recently emailed Latest Chapter states that "Camping at Rutland SC is also free".
However, the Rutland SC website states "The lease we have with our landlord doesn't allow any overnight stays, camping or motor homing within the club grounds. The campsite opposite the club is owned by a local farmer which will take motor homes, caravans and tents. Spaces must be booked in advance and are on a first come first serve basis. To book contact the farmer via his website  http://www.rutlandwatercampsite.co.uk."

Cheers,

David

Hi all,

My young son (aged 7) really enjoys sailing but sometimes gets nervous to the point he is panicky prior to the start, but is happy once away from the start line commotion, which we now try to avoid. We are hoping to go to RHYC (June) and Rutland coaching day (July), and wondered if there would be any other young crews going with whom he could socialise and who might help increase his confidence?

Many thanks

Unless things change significantly, the forecast is looking too windy for my little son and me.  :(

I am therefore happy to crew anyone who is otherwise without crew, but would like to play.

Hi Andy,

My 7-year-old son will be there. We bought Ebba (our first 12) last summer and Rowan started sailing in the Autumn. We joined Burghfield to sail through the winter and he's loving it. Just make sure he's wrapped up warm (woolly gloves and marigolds for the hands are essential). We're not expecting to do all the races, but if it's less than 12kts (our self-imposed limit), we'll certainly be on the water for some of them. It would be great to have another newbe to race against.

We are also intending to go to 12 Fest and other inland meetings as conditions permit.

I will be there, also camping. This will be my first away trip since buying Ebba in the summer. :)

Now worked out how to attach photos, so amended the reply above.

Sailing with my 6-yr-old son at UTSC. The boat was upright just after the photo was taken - honest  ::)

I recently bought my first National 12 'Ebba' from Paul Pelling who had kept her in fantastic condition. She is now located at her new home, the Upper Thames Sailing Club where there is an immaculate Proctor Mk VIII (1777), 2x Paper Dart, Baggy Trousers and now a Feeling Foolish. The fleet is growing.
