Those of you who were at Burton Week, Pevensey this year will know already that there has been an interesting development in the National 12 class by designer Gavin Willis. He's conjoured up a design that can change it's shape according to the conditions. We've created a short video filmed at our championships where Gavin explains the how it works on his latest Paradigm 4. https://youtu.be/ne_rlswt1B8

Can anyone help to transport a vintage boat from Colchester to her new home near Reading in the next few weeks? She doesn't have a road trailer so the trolley would need strapping on to a road base.

ThanksZoe

This year 12Fest is at Ardleigh Sailing Club, Colchester on 6-7 July. It is a relaxed weekend of coaching and racing designed to get everyone going that bit faster on the water, with an emphasis on having fun. You'll gain something from the weekend whether you are a N12 novice or championship racer.
12 fleet regulars Graham Camm, Zoe Ballantyne & John Meadowcroft will be running the coaching. Coaching will focus on tuning, boat handling, boat speed and starting tactics. There will be debriefs at the end of each day to look at the video footage and see how much you've improved.

Free camping is available on site and camper vans can park in the car park overnight.

Ardleigh's caterers are unfortunately on holiday over the weekend we're visiting so please bring your own food for lunch both days and for Sunday breakfast. Sailors are able to use the club kitchen facilities, hot drinks and light snacks (crisps, chocolate etc) are available, but camping stoves aren't allowed.  We'll be heading to the Wooden Fender pub, just down the road from the club, for Saturday dinner, let us know if you'd like to join so we can book tables.

Entry is just £25 per boat

Coaching starts at 11am on Saturday 6th July. Let us know if you are coming and what you'd like to cover here

Are you good at persuading people to get involved?
Do you want to see your name in print?
If you said yes, then you could be the next editor of the world-renowned (ish) N12 Newsletter!  ;)
You don't need to be an expert in document editing software, Ed Willett (previous editor) is happy to give a tutorial.
If you're interested, please contact  ntoa@national12.org.

Someone mentioned to me at the Dinghy Show that the National 12 videos hadn't been available on YouTube for a while. I think they were removed due to the funky choons infringing copyright. The good news is that Google seem to have some arrangement now so that videos with choons and be uploaded  (they've probably had it for a while but I've only just noticed). So I've uploaded all the N12 videos at https://www.national12.org/videos/

There's some great and entertaining footage, not to mention some great toe tapping beats

Happy viewing

We need helpers to envangelish how great 12s are!

The Dinghy Show is on the 2nd and 3rd March at Alexandra Palace, North London. The 12s are planning on making our presence know this year, in particular we are going to try and appeal to the family contingent with stickers and sweets to draw in the kids, a new t-shirt to emphasis the National 12 presence and the full range of class videos to provide some entertainment.
Are you or your family able to help out on the stand for 2 hours on one of the days? If so please let us know what slots you can do on the Doodle Poll

If you have kids who are also able to help out and let the other kids know how great 12s are, then please add them to the poll.

Hopefully see you at the show

Calling all budding artists  - we need a National 12 sticker and t-shirt designs for the Dinghy Show 2019.

We're planning on making our presence known at the Dinghy Show next March and we'd like to involve as many of the kids/youth of the fleet over the weekend. We're going to have helpers wearing N12 t-shirts plastering stickers on as many passers by as possible.

We need eye-catching t-shirt and sticker designs. Sticker design should work well on either a circle, square or rectangle of around 80mm.

Please post your ideas here and we'll have a vote on the 19th Jan to select one. Below are some of the t-shirts from previous years (yes they are looking well worn/loved :)

Happy designing

Graham

We would like to offer a photo booth-type activity on our stand at the Dinghy Show to attract younger visitors - does anyone have a camera which prints out photos instantly which the class could borrow? The class would cover film cost of course.
Please let us know.
