Paul,

Basically if the DB is removed you become an AC boat, but beware that you still have to adhere to the 1996 rules as Ricahrd says.

Having got hold of 3003, I have the reverse of the dilemma - when does an AC boat cease to be an AC boat but a DB boat, also not sure if my brother has got his head around that one when he cut part of the floor out of 3435.

Isn't this the joy of the Twelves, we can play around to our hearts content, posing problems for measurers to scratch their heads over..............................(drat I forgot I am one!!!)

Jim,

I gave up on the velcro idea, the pole never seemed to want to catch properly and the loop end was always empting Smalls of sand!

The small amount of drag created by the pole 'flapping' in the slot is neglible - the worst bit is hearing the pole knocking on the mast!

Report from one who wasn't there, but sitting in a hospital bed!

Sailing wasn't cancelled - abandoned on Saturday as the safetyboats were flying around picking up bits of boats but......................

Most got repaired and on Sunday 2 races were got in!
Overall Will and Mary Henderson were first, Keri Harris with his daughter and one of the SYC Cadets second, Gavin nad Jasmine Willis third and David Wilkind and Adele Cameron fourth.

More than that I have yet to find out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I have one titanium knee now!

Just worked out why DW is so keen on the Fotoboat calendar - you can just see his knashers glinting in the background........................................... ;D

David,

surely the reason why HRH thought your boat looked a bit more modern is that a Foolish is designed for racing rather that fishing!

Ooops, that the job gone........

Tim,

quite right, also the main has to be a totally different shape.

I looked into it hard with 3444, Linton was going to make the mast, Frankie the sails, the boat was built for a deck stepped mast and there had been a rules dispensation to allow the development to take place, however as with all things when I wanted to take it up it had become 'time expired'! :'(
