deck stepped rig, wood decks , possibly lower freeboard and a little flatter underneath.  Not a lot in it really - I looked at he same trade when I had a D8 but decided it wasn't going to be much of a difference.

That said the two sisterships 3378 and 3404 are arguably two of the best looking 12s going, I'd probably buy the Mouser if I wasn't trying to buy a flat... :(

D8 without a doubt - you'll struggle in a Baggy at 23st. The D8 may be a little slower on the plane but in light airs/weight carrying/survival sailing it's the quicker/more manageable boat.

Where are you sailing?

Hi,

is anyone looking for a crew for either of these events or would be willing to lend me a boat (anything considered...).

Drop me an email as I'm offshore in the North Sea until about the 23rd Dec.

Cheers

23.5kg... I didn't know they had pygmys in Essex.... ;D

But agree, crusader is an excellent choice for a first 12 and there's a selection on the 2nd hand list.

doesn't wait to be told to shout Starboard. [/quote]

I'd say the opposite here - I want the crew to be telling me about other boats but I want to be able to make the decision about whether to call them or dip myself.  The last thing you need is a boat camped on your lee bow when you're going the right way!

Bit general but I think reliability and enthusiasm are the most important aspects - though obviously being able to straight leg hike for the whole burton cup and drag the boat singlehanded up Porthpean slip while weighing less than 8 stone are pretty essential too....

Hi,

I may be lurking around the SW next week as work has been postponed for at least another week (I'm so disappointed...).  May try and get down to Salcombe for the last couple of days so if anyone has a spare bed/sofa space for a contribution towards the letting cost/beer fund that would be great.

Cheers

N2822 Paper Gold
Design: Paper Dart

Paper Gold was languishing in a corner of Grafham Dinghy park almost black with algae and dirt when I picked her up for Kath.

With a lot of cleaning and a few bits of string replaced and sporting the cast off sails of 3299 she proved very quick, winning races at Starcross and several CVRDA events.

Pic:  Kath and me at Mayflower SC CVRDA event in 2002.

The boat was at Topsham SC around 2001-2002, not sure where it went to after that.
