Well, I guess it's time to bite the bullet and let her go.... :'(
Archimedes and just twelve feet have conspired against me.
I think it would be good to have her back in GB sailing with a lighter crew.
What do you think? At a pinch I could bring her over on November 2nd.
Drop me a line if you're interested. email's  jbretherick (at) epo.org
Oh, yes, carbon mast and boom, split main, Kevlar main Alverbanks, still good, and Alverbanks dacron jib with 1 full season's use. You can see her in the database.
Nice boat and sails very well (ask Dare or The Dodger) but only good for me when I'm solo sailing up to 4Bft and hellish alone in a blow.
All the best,
Jim.

Hi everyone!
Anyone know what superspars use to bond the luff track for the main to the carbon mast? Mine is coming adrift at the level of the mast foot. I've used "liquid steel" from Plastic Padding to bond it and so far it appears to be holding. However, over winter I'd like to try to get it properly repaired. It's not a good feeling to be out there with lots of wind and prebend and to hear a slight "ping" ....:-/
Any help gratefully received.

Hi Folks!
I've got to get more twist going upwind. Tom's sent me a split mainsheet. That's good, but I need help about getting the split angle and length right. Do you need to generate any tension in the leach when the main is closehauled to the centreline or should you rely entirely on the kicker when you need tension? The other question is what's the best way to secure the split ends to quarter inch ply?
Any answers gratefully received!!!
Cheers!

Here's the link for more information (hope it works this time). Sorry the news is not good. Why the ISAF decided to exclude boat classes which account for between 10-30% of all competitive non-keelers is a mystery.
Cheers!
Jim.

Hi!
Can anyone advise on split main setup? How many blocks do you need etc. and what' s the ideal distance apart for the split ends? We've got a dynema horse at the moment that's too narrow and I can't develop enough main twist - as - inter alia - evidenced in our abysmal efforts going upwind at BW this year - not to mention being overweight, having an unmotivated and "tender" 1st. crew who almost threw in the towel at the practice race until I promised her that the wind would drop at the start of the fisrt offical race (which, luckily, it did) etc etc winge winge  :-/

Anyway, if anyone could post a pic of a typical setup, I'd be very grateful. I could then translate that into a setup where in our case the transom's pretty much not in existence.

Thanks!   :)

Hi Folks!
Set off for the Worlds tomorrow. I've been invited to do the cheese-wire on one of those twin-hull thingies. We'll have 135 boats from all over the World there - 15 are coming from South Africa - and we're hoping for a good  bit of wind too. 5 boats are going from my club ESC, so it should be quite good fun. About half the fleet are going to be Brits. Perhaps we can revenge ourselves for that 2:1 defeat this week  ;D. I'll be on a boat that has GBR on one side of the mainsail and GER on the other!!! There'll be plenty of beer too!!!!
Rigging up a waterproof camera to take fotos of the fleet in action, so if any turn out to be good, I'll post them in the gallery.

Cheers!

Sam,
My crew is inexperienced and it is turning out that she might not have the drive I have to get through the week, particularly if the wind gets up. It might be that the rules allow a crew change halfway throught the week, in which case, if she doesn't want to race, then I'll be able to offer you a couple of races. I'm sorry, but that's all I can offer at the moment. I know how it feels, since I spent some of BW last year wanting to get out on the water, but knowing, with my 14 stone nobody would seriously take me on board, even if it were blowing a gale  :-/

Somebody out there do this lad a great favour and prevent him buying an a laser, solo, RS600 Phantom, Evolution whatsit  or even - heaven forbid! - a Supernova  :P ;)

Cheers!

N3304 Up for sale

Hijacked or sidetracked, come and support these sailing clubs, I'll bet the wind's good down there. Plenty of pasties too.....Like Milkyway they fill you up without affecting the all up crew weight (too much).
Come on Yoda, get those dormant 12s out from Salcombe - just a stone's throw away!!!

Cheers!
Jim. (There, don't say I don't do anything for you James! - I've even posted a new thread!!!!!)

Hi!
Rick's link about Burton Week 2008 has prompted me to ask whether there is any further info. about Burton Week 2007 apart from the link giving a pdf registration form. It would be good to have a bit more logistical info. for example, on whom to contact if one were to want to park the boat in a "safe area" earlier esp. for those who are travelling a long way. Anything finalised yet?

Cheers!

Hi folks!

Isn't it about time we got some more photos in the gallery? It's very disheartening to see the same old thing day in day out... :-/ The database could do with a lot more comments and photos too....

Cheers!

Jim (Get on with it!  :D)

Just wondering if you could still use a dangly pole with a rotating mast... No idea of geometry, see.... ??)

Jim N3130 and N3470 and a large box of Viagra powder (for N12 pimping purposes only! - sorry just a little larger than life today - all John Murrell's fault - he pointed out the 12' Skiff link!)
