It is with great sadness that I announce that Helen died on Friday evening. She was suffering with breast cancer, which had been diagnosed a year ago. Her last two months were very difficult and she spent the last four weeks in St Leonard's Hospice in York.
Helen last sailed in N2545 last September in the Yorkshire Ouse annual get-together with our neighbouring club, York Railway Institute Sailing Club. The wind was very light at times and we had more than our fair share of luck to win all three races! She enjoyed the day very much, despite being in the middle of a course of chemotherapy at the time.
She planned everything and wanted a small private burial service followed a few weeks later by a celebration of her life in our local village hall. Everyone will be invited to this and I'll let you all know when it will be.
