General National 12 chat / Re: Lowers
30 May 2019, 08:00
Hi,

The lowers job is to counteract the force of the kicker pushing the boom towards the mast so they need to be attached to the mast at goose-neck level.
You will need very strong rope and a lot of purchase in the control line as the loads can be huge (I use 4mm D12 rope and 24 or 32 to 1 purchase)

Hi Ian

We are expecting to run about 8 short races of about 15-20minutes.
Courses are likely to be single lap trapezoids with one or two beats but the SIs will give the option of going round the cans using the fixed club marks.
The OKs will use the same marks but dufferent start the trapezoid course allows an inner loop and outer loop which almost guarantees that the two fleets never meet.
We usually have 15-20 N12s and a dozen OKs

SIs should be published during the week.

See you on Saturday

Hi All,

The first event of the Gul series 2018 is nearly upon us at Burghfield on 17th of March.

As usual, this will be a sprint event. We will fit as many short races as possible during the day (typically 8) with a break for lunch, the galley will be open.

Briefing at 1015, first warning 1047. Prize giving ASAP after racing, there will be cake and tea/coffee available.

Please pre-register if you intend to come. This helps us with plans and saves you £5 on the entry fee, advance payment is not required, you can still pay on the day.

For pre-registration and Notice of race, click here.

The first Event of the 2017 Gul series will take place at Burghfield sailing club. This will be shared with the OK class.
The aim of the day is sprint racing - fast and furious, quick turnarounds and lots of challenging fun.  As many races as possible over the course of the day on a simple course.  Starting is the key!

Event details and pre-registration canbe found here: https://webcollect.org.uk/burghfield/event/2017-national-12-ok-open-meeting

There is a £5 discount for pre-registering, pre-registration closes on the 15th of March.

Note: There is a 2.2m height restriction at the entrance to the club, please see the website for access details.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there.TomN3545
