I have put he NOR and Entry Forms on the Salcombe website today - www.salcombeyc.org.uk
For the evening social entertainment I have ogranised a Pie, Chips and Stittles evening for Saturday   and on Sunday Spud Rowsell has been volunteered to give a short talk titled ' Twelve's when I were a boy!' should be very amusing and then there will be the traditional Salcombe carvery to round the evening off.
Boats will be kept at Batson Boatpark for the weekend and there will be no charge for boats in the boatpark Saturday am  to Monday afternoon, however if you are planning on arriving early / staying on for a few days there may be a charge made. Also the Salcombe Harbour Master will not be charging Harbour Dues for the event, thanks Ian!
There are a number of B&B's in Salcombe and it appears that they are filling fast, however I have spoken to the Squires at Higher Rew camp Site and they will charge £9.00 a night for a camping pitch (car, tent, 2 adults and accompanied kids). Give Sue Squire a call on 01548 842681 to book your pitch and mention that you are coming to the Salcombe 12 open meeting and she will try to keep everyone together.

As you may know, Salcombe YC were given Complex for our Cadets to use. Unfortunately and being realistic she wasn't he right type of boat for the job and has remained unused and is currently sitting in a barn pining for the water!

On top of this problem, I had a phone call last week from a club member offering another Twelve to the Club! Never being one to look a gift horse and all that, I expained our current prediciment. Suffice to say we still have been given this boat on the understanding that we can sell it straight on to raise funds for our Cadets.

So currently I have N2405 Complex and N2725 Notawhisper ( actualy a 4 plank Doll built from an Impact kit! ) available for sale.

I won't put the details on the For Sale page yet as I don't have full specs and current pics of the boats, however if anyone is interested in either boats give me a call at home - the no is in the handbook or a call at SYC weekdays

Looking around for help trying to find a new buoyancy aid that would keep my new leg afloat and came across this site and mentioned it to Jimbo - his eyes are still glued to his computer screen!!!!!!!

Enjoy it!!

Intresting comment on the database that this boat, a Final Chapter, whilst the latest registered number is out of class. Anyone any ideas? An intersting story? Has someone been home building for so long that the rules have changed?

And before anyone asks - its nothing to do with the Ivybridge Boat Bodging Company!!!!!!

Nigel,

You might be able to fill in some of the missing history. I know that Chris Gillard had Dinsdale until 1977 when he sold her to Andy Dale. Did you sail at Up River 'cause I seem to remember seeing her there when I bought 2808 there in '78. The last entry in the Yearbook for an assn member is 1978 and from there on she is shown as owner by A J Dove of Shoeburyness. Ken Goddard remembers her surfacing at Earlswood Lakes in the early '90's when a John Pearson raced her and there are ELSC stickers still on the tramsom flaps today. From what I undestand he moved to Cornwall and kept Dinsdale at Siblyback Lakes until he sold her about 18 months ago to Martin Couch who I got her from via good old eBay!.

Condition wise the hull is still very good biut the c/board case and decks are in need of surgery ( ie replacement like my left knee! )

I am keeping a photograhpic history of the rejunivation!

Ok, its official - National Twelves are on display in the main hall in Falmouth! N456, Westwind an Uffa King built by the great man himself and driven by Bruce Banks to Burton Cup wins in '39 and '50 as well as Overall wins in '47, '48, '50 has today been joined by N3505 Chunky Monkey. Both will be on display next to each other - quite a comparison - until the end of March.

Westwind looks so good, you feel you could have taken her for a sail today, and all the museum helpers looked on in amazement at Chunky Monkey........................................

By the way, Mike, where did all that lead go to?
