COME AND SEE THE NEW P&B BOATS ON THE WATER AT THEIR FIRST EVENT.

Only 10 days until the penultimate event in this year's GILL series. Format is much the same as for previous years except that as this will not be the final event in the 2007 series we will not have the series prizegiving, just the event prizegiving, after the racing. This means we do not need time to work out the series results so there will not be an evening meal provided to keep you occupied while this is done. For those of you who do not have the memory of an elephant, or are new to the series, details are: -

10.00 Briefing;
11.00 First Race
Lunch
13.30 Race 2
Race 3 Back-to-Back
Prizegiving.

One discard if all three races sailed.

As usual, please put a note on this discussion board or let me know if you intend to be there as this does help with the organisation.

NOR is available at http://www.national12.org/events/2007/GillSeries/Grafham N12 NOR 2007 v1.pdf.

3512 - Finally picking it up this weekend!!

An email was sent out last night to everyone who is included on the Gill series mailing list. I have been trying to work out how to get the same information onto this discussion board but failed as it includes a couple of spreadsheets. The contents of the email will form the basis for a discussion at this weekend's committee meeting which may, OR MAY NOT, lead to changes in the format and/or scoring of the GILL series next year. If you would like the opportunity to comment on these before Saturday, please drop me an email on kiles1uk @ yahoo . co . uk (remove spaces)  and I will email you what has already been sent out.

This message is intended for anyone one who missed the postings in the summer and did not read their Ratchet. The meeting was moved to July in order to avoid the clash with Bim's wedding which would have reduced the turnout to something uneconomic for the club to run.

... are now available on the GILL section of this site.

A little more interesting now the 2nd discard has kicked in.

As usual, please let me know of any errors and they will be corrected for next time.

Due to the clash with a designer wedding, which will be prominently attended by members of the class, it has been decided to cancel the planned open meeting at THORPE BAY in September.

INSTEAD, the class is being invited to attend the regatta on 15/16 JULY and the Thames Estuary Championship trophy will be awarded for this event. Although the regatta is normally more of a family oriented affair than the open meeting, there will be "proper" racing on the sea - one of the last chances for pre-Burton week training. The Notice of Race may be found by following the link on www.tbyc.org.

It would help if those who expect to take part in the regatta would let me know as soon as possible, especially if you want to partake of the Hog Roast on Saturday evening.

Please note that although the entry is FREE, you will have to pay for food!

Many thanks to those who advised me of errors after Northampton, I believe these have all been addressed but if anyone notices any more, please let me know.

Next GILL series event is Filey on 8/9 July with a programme designed so that even those of us in the South East have a decent chance to get home and see the World Cup final. More details shortly.

Not only has the dinner sold out, but the additional 30 seats we managed to get the hotel to squeeze into the hall have also gone!! If you were thinking of coming along we can put your name on a waiting list for a last minute cancellation, but otherwise the club will be providing food for everyone who is not going to the dinner.

Tickets have been dispatched to everyone except those who have arranged to collect them on the day. If you do not rceive yours by this Saturday, please let me know.

Thanks for the fantastic support!

This is a reminder that now the weather has warmed up (at last!) the GILL series gets underway this weekend at Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club.

Aside from the usual sailing, and excellent and reasonnably priced food, there will be FIREWORKS and other entertainment on Saturday evening.

The seminar before dinner will be an interactive session on the theme of "Helm & Crew Communication (or lack of?)" and will be moderated by a Burton Cup and Silver National winning CREW!

Directions and other details may be found by following the GILL series links on this site.

Remember, Don't be shy, give the GILL series a try.
