I used a ribbed astroturf door mat from homebase for about £4.00 (see the picture above).  It is still working really well :)

or it may be 3037 on ebay if you go by the name and not the sail numbers.

A great looking boat.  Does it have a name yet?

You need to use the advanced editor and hit the tree icon or turn off the advanced editor and put the image between [\\img]URL IN GALLERY\\[/\\img] tags (not including the "\\"s )

Having been through this a couple of years ago there are a few things that I didn't really get the importance of to start with.
Read the guides on the web site.
Check the rig is set up with the right balance. Rake and mast foot position.

Sitting apart off wind and not both trying to correct balance at the same time helps to start. It can all go wrong really fast.
Look at the position of other 12 crews (lots on youtube).

Dumping the kicker if you start heading up and rolling over can save a swim.
Plate position can be useful to balance the effort from the rig off wind and up wind.
I'm lucky as my crew likes swimming :)

Only the vegetarian ones. They really like bacon bones best.

And the result of about five hours over a couple of weeks and £25 is shown below.  Hopefully Grimley won't leave her trolley on the beach again.:)

Thanks for the advice which is excellent as always.

The old carpet and wooden blocks on my trolley cradle have had their day.

My current plans are to lay up something on the bottom of the boat with camping mat foam / pipe lagging foam  / glass / epoxy etc. Any suggestions on materials and techniques would be welcome.

We plan to be there with Grimley subject to the usual family arm twisting :)
