Hi all here is my problem I am the proud owner of Gillespie 3179 rowsell cruisader, still seems prety quick how difficult and expensive does it need to be fitting a double bottom what about keeping the weight down is that possible or does it have to get heavier.

If you look back through earlier threads on the dicsussion board (eg 'double bottoms' in mid May; 'how did I miss this one' in Feb/March), you'll see lots of thoughtful comment and advice on the benefits or otherwise of retro-fitting a double bottom.  The newer boats are a bit quicker than the AC vintage for a number of reasons and double bottoms are only one.  It'ws a pretty radical step and I guess I'd advise a mix of caution, more time spent learning about your boat, trying a double-bottomed one and talking to people who have done it before embarking on the project.
