Comments from Bryan Storey:

My number 2 twelve was a brand new 7 plank China Doll from Wyche & Coppock in 1973. Originally called Singin Hinny (Should have been Cheviot the highest Northumberland peak- because of its number) Keenly sailed at DRSC & every winter series with Tynemouth SC on River Tyne at Ryton. Especially good in light airs, tacking like a dream. Passed it on to my wife Vera. Did Pevensey in Burton Week '74. Was 12th at weather mark one day - but faded!!. Sold in the North.

Comments from Mike Storey:
I sailed this boat in the Burton Week at Tynemouth with my mother, including one memorable day when it absolutely howled. So many boats got into difficulties that some were left anchored upside down to stop them floating off to Norway until rescue boats could recover them. We sailed out to the start, thought better of it and somehow made it back to shore in one piece. Several days of that week were blown off.

I think singing hinny is a geordie name for a kettle.

My 4th Twelve was a Crusader N3274 first reg '88 bought under 1 yr old. Renamed Rejuvenator. Spent ages refitting it!! Aft tanks always a bugger but got it to go!. Fast & flew on reaches (in its day) & could be sailed in gales!. A pig in v v light airs. Used very little from '98. Passed to my son Mike in 2004 & has been campaigned in London area, crewed by his son Alex.
No stern tanks now !

Comments from Bryan Storey:
My 3rd Twelve was a Cheshire Cat called Curved Air N2961, dark blue, bought from Ipswich in'78, near new. Sailed v regularly from TSC summer & winter.Did Champs from LLandudno in '78 & from TSC in 79 & 85. Much improved performance over the Doll & had many good local & Scotish results. Liked it a lot.

Comments from Mike Storey:
I can distinctly remember driving with dad from Newcastle to Ipswich to buy it.

Comments from owner 1969-1973 Bryan Storey
Bought first 12 in 1969 from Colin Davidson of Int 14 fame. N2165 Proctor 11a  Pale blue & a bit tippy, but I had never sailed & could barely swim but learnt quickly!!Sailed regularly at Derwent Reservoir S.C. & as with all subsequent 12s at every Bassenthwaite Regatta & local Meetings. Not a notably fast design but OK for a novice. Sold in '73 to DRSC member

Yes G&Z won but were chased hard throughout by the Thorntons in Full Monty. There were 10 boats on a strangely tide-less Thames and a good day was had by all, although some did get wet. Mike

If memory serves, Fran was clocked in a 12 at a Police event going 14+kts in a 10kt limit. She got 2 points on her licence and a 10kg weight penalty at all Gill events!!

If you luck out with Fran I'll be doing the same tedious trek from S London to the A1 and could pick you up.

This looks like exactly the kind of thing we want to set up for our club to distribute newsletters, send notices, advertise for a crew etc.

Not being a web wizard, is it easy to set up? Does it require any special software. Can anyone advise?
