I seem to remember the Fireball lot would often make them out of old sail material doubled up. Not sure how well it works on a 12, but seemed to do the job cheaply and effectively if you had a knackered set of sails lying around

... and the trick here is to make sure that you really clean off the old glue first, otherwise the new gasket won't bed down properly.

I might need some help here... the gasket is held in with aluminium runners screwed down. Do i need to glue it as well?

The old gasket was being caught by the CB as it was being raised, and the CB was therfore sticking
