Somewhat surprised that there is no mention on the board of Eileen Ramsay's 100th Birthday, although before my time I did have the pleasure of meeting her on a number of occasions when she visited events.

Perhaps there is an opportunity for some of the Senior Members to bring younger members of the contribution that she made to 12s and sailing in the 50's and 60's.

Nice to hear she is still going well.
If you look at the board it should have a diamond shape head section.  I put quite a lot of effort in building up with epoxy & microballoons to eliminate any uneccessary wobble.  The centreboard uphaul downhaul system was as much about putting some friction in the system because of the reduced surface area of the gybing head.

We had a gybing board on Annie Apple, wobbling downwind was never a problem.  There are times that a gybing board is very quick, particularly if you foot and have enough power to drive the boat, in effect you end up pointing slightly freer but the gybing board is clawing you to windward.  It is quite hard to consistently find the sweet spot.

One of the Crusaders or Design 8's on the second hand list look ideal for your weight and for river sailing, the Design 8's are GRP, Crusaders wood.  China Crisis was a great and pretty boat in its time.

The more you look at this boat the more normal it gets!

If it is fast it will look good!  Having seen the "Wrong Trousers" from outside most of this year, she is begining to look normal!

Why shouldn't boat builder's drive flash cars?  Much though I like the idea of boatbuilder's working for very little, in life you get what you pay for.  If the builder is efficient and build's lots of boats there is no reason why he should not drive a flash car, it is not a crime to make a good living if you are not good at your job.  Many of us drive flash cars and in many cases our jobs do not require the hours or skill of some boatbuilders.

I (David Greening) owned Freefall in the late seventies/early eighties and sailed her at Aldenham Sailing Club with great success.  She originally belonged to designer Phil Morrison and then by Tony James from RHYC.  I sold her to Steve Proctor.
She was built by Jon Turner while he was working for Spud Rowsell and imo was one of the pretiest 12's ever built.  She was very very fast in light winds, I suspect that she would still get great results in drifting conditions.

I note that she has recently been sold on ebay - if the purchaser wishes to pass her on please let me know.
