Courtesy of Michael Goffe, via Michael Brookman we have these pictures of David Camps sailing Poppet, probably newly built with an older set of sails. The pictures are taken from Hayling Island SC looking towards Easthead.

Courtesy of Gillian Westell (daughter of John Westell, designer of the 505) are these photos of N436 being sailed by one of her fathers friends on the Exeter Ship Canal.

Likewise sail my 12's quite often singlehanded. Havent made any mods to the boats at all, but they all do have jib cleats which I think is the main thing needed. Doesnt matter where the control lines are lead to in my view.

The following photographs were kindly received from Gillian Westell, and show her father John Westell aged 17 or 18, sailing Marante in the Exe Estuary circa 1938/39.

We recently received the following information and document on N220 from Gillian Westell confirming that N220 was built in 1937 and was an Uffa King design.
Gillian says "Marante" was acquired in 1938 by my father John Westell (not Westall!), designer of the International 505. I thought that perhaps you would like to add this information to your database.

Hi and welcome aboard!
I have a Crusader 88 (3274) and can confirm that it is great fun to sail, very forgiving, and, at Club level more than fast enough in all conditions. Some fine examples came up for sale recently, keep watching the NTOA For Sale ads, Apollo Duck and the join the Facebook page "Dinghies and Dinghy Bits for Sale". There are a couple of Crusaders on the NTOA For Sale list...not sure if they are still available.

Without wishing to state the obvious, wood does require maintenance and very soon little jobs pile up to make one big job (as I found out) so make sure you have undercover winter storage if you want your wooden boat to last. If not go for a Design 8....

Bob
I think only two Waterloo Sunset's were built, N2600 and N2776 and 2776 went to boat heaven in the 1980's. N2775 is also a Mervyn Cook design called Electroglide...so there are possibly two surviving Mervyn Cook boats out there....be interesting to track them down/find out what happened to them.
