This might seem a long way off to be thinking about considering the 2015 12 open has just happened (you never know a report might pop up sometime) but it gives me plenty of time sort things out faff around.
A few options to think about are:

Are people really interested in some kind of 2 day event? (There can be free camping on site and the event will be during the summer)

If so how do people want it to work? A couple of races on Saturday followed by an evening doo of some kind or get very old skool and go back to team racing on Saturday with a normal open on the Sunday. (least favourite option for Kez)

If not then keep it to an day’s friendly racing on the Saturday for all types and flavour of National 12. (This might be the proffered option since it looks like 2 events might be struggling for decent turnouts)

Or maybe a third option I’m yet to think about while contemplate life on the train home of an evening?

So what does  everyone think? All suggestions gratefully received and considered.

Brilliant that’s great to hear and good to know Ely’s interesting wind didn’t put you off.
Just got to workout the best way  to celebrate  70 years of 12 yotting in Ely.

A quick post to say a massive thank to Paul to putting the event on, Trent Valley being the welcoming place it is and putting on a fine spread for tea and the new 12 guy (sorry I have forgotten your name) who decided it was a bit breeze for him and lent us his Chester Cat. Both Kez and me and an awesome afternoon’s tatty yotting lovin’ the tacking battles up the beats. All round great day sailing reminding us sailing 12’s on rivers can be loads of fun 8)

Next stop for the 4P series Oulton Mare SC

We are coming along to sail one of 12's from the PT collection even though it would be good to take Subversion back to her old stomping ground.
I also hear rumours Gerald is putting serious thought towards it.

Just a quick thank you to everyone who came along on Saturday, to Gerald who turned more than fashionably late! Gorge for coming over from RHYC (it’s good to put a face to a name) and PT for diving over and putting in 2 very good races showing that CC is still a quick ship. Not forgetting Jack Knight for lending Kez and me Leala and his Mum and Dad for cooking another most tasty chilly. Of cause as already mentioned thanks to Ely SC for running another great event.
I would like to also mention Kez me managed to get lost all on our own without the aid of the guide boat;)
One last thing I would like to mention is next year is Ely SC 70th anniversary and it would be only right to do a special 12 event given 12’s were the founding class of boats at Ely. I don’t know what form it will take yet but if anyone has any suggestions feel free to send them my way or add a post to this thread.
See you at Trent Valley

Hello Gorge I can confirm Ely SC national 12 open is being held on the Saturday the 11th July.  With the brifing at 10:30 and first race 11:00 followed by lunch cooked by Andy Knight Ely SC chef in residence then next 2 races with break for a cuppa in between.  I spoke to Suzie the other day and the entry fee will be £8:00

For those who haven’t been to Ely before the post code is CB7 4TX, it’s easy to find just keep an eye out for the white posts on the right when heading from the Ely direction.

Looks like there will be a good group of us Gerald Copsey is coming back to defend his trophy PT should be there with CC and all being well we should be out on the water as well. Add in 2 local boats and its good sized fleet:)

Is there anyone else out there in forum land who is harbouring ideas of coming along?

See you Saturday Smilie 8)

If George has been unlucky in finding a crew for Angus can anyone else help him out? Please. As I feel responsible for his lack of crew since it's me who let him down.
Thanks

Cool, will be good to see you back driving Cheshire Cat. Kez and me will be there but no Subversion unless something amazing happens involving a tow bar. It looks like we will be driving something from the Jack knight collection ;)
Do you know if anyone else is thinking of heading down from Trent Valley?

brilliant will good to see you 8) Do you think you be able to persuade anyone from RHYC head up the A14 with you?
Have you managed to sort out your centreboard issues?

Ok guys and girls the next chance to some 4 plank racing including all 12 sailors who like a bit lake sailing in the south east is Ely Sailing Club on the 11th July.
The running order for the days racing is as follows:

Briefing, 10:30

First Race 11:00

Second Race 13:00

Last race 14:30/15:00

Tea and Cake 17:00

Entry fee £10 (probably)

It would be really good to get a good turnout this year because next year is a bit of special for the club and the 12 fleet at Ely SC and would be good see if it might worth putting on a special event to celebrate.

I think the reason might be they had a change of fleet captain this year and few things got missed that’s all.
Given it’s only a month till event I better post some info up.

In short term till I do it will probably be run as follows:

Briefing, 10:30

First Race 11:00

Second Race 13:00

Last race 14:30/15:00

Tea and Cake 17:00

Entry fee about tenner

I would like to say a big thank you to the six boats who came along to Milton Keynes SC first ever 12 open. There was close racing up and down the fleet and good mix of crews and boats, it didn’t rain and the wind didn’t treat us to badly either. I won’t mention the confusion in the pursuit race ;) I’m sure someone must have started at the right time.

Another big thanks has to go to Milton Keynes sailing club for letting us hold the event and to Bob Austin for being Race Officer for setting some great coursesand the people in the gallery for keeping us fed and tea-ed.
There was loads of interest from the club so with luck we should be having another 12 event next year :)

Don’t forget the next 4 plank event Ely Sailing Club on the 11th July (it’s open to all 12’s with only  4 planker’s score for the HD sails series)

Soapy had the same problem when with got her. If the silicon spray doesn’t work I would consider giving it a gentle sand with some fine grade Water ‘n’ Dry. Really I kinda feel that you might want to thank about that anyway since once the silicon spray has worn off you will be back to square one and you don’t really want to be spraying silicon down your case regularly.

I have wonder if there something odd happening with the friction device on the front of the board?

It's shame you both can't make it. If all goes well then there has already been a rough plan of maybe doing something with the Tasar's at MK next year.
I have also managed to round up some nice Milton Keynes inspaired prizes.

If rumours are true then the turnout isn't going to be too shabby for MK SC first 12 open. Currently on the list we have 3 four plankers, 2 Foolish's, admarals cuppa and a vintage 12. The not represented in the line up are the 12 that have winged rudders guessing they are saving themselves for 12 Fest.

From the first post there has been a slight change to the running order due Milton Keynes Sailing really pushing the boat out, that is the committee boat of cause
The running order for sunday's racing is:

Briefing, 10:30

First Race 11:00

Second Race (chase the laser) 13:00

Last race 14:30/15:00

Tea and Cake 17:00

Entry fee £5

If you are wondering how to get there:

Milton Keynes Sailing Club Monellan Grove, Caldecotte Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire MK7 8NE. club is just off Monellan Grove.
