This is for sale in the usual place...but really needs a good home. I'll be open to any and all offers...given that (really sadly) the road trailer / launching trolley and the two suits of sails may well be worth more than the boat...

We won't be sailing twelves next year, but it is a lovely boat and needs a home...and yes, I probably do feel more strongly about this than the dog...

Our family all sailed this at Clywedog SC, mostly the only 12 in the Valley, from 1996 until about 2004: one invariant in our otherwise shifting fleet as the children grew up.  Later she pottered at Trimpley SC. For the last two yeast she has been loved but not cared for, sadly. Now passed on to Olton Mere SC for use by their youth section.

Off to a good home for the youth of Olton Mere today  ( their reps were quick off the mark in replying to the original post - so kind advice not followed thanks, Grazz)
We're down to one 12 now, and hope to sail it a bit more next year. The last year (plus) has been a bit of  wipe out, which goes part way to explaining why this elderly lady is need of some tlc and a new home. That and not enough garage space to over-winter the fleet (Current 12 has displaced the moth hull above the car in the garage...

We have had a Street Legal in the family for a bit over a decade. It has been sailed and enjoyed by all. However, we now have a newer 12, and over the last year I have not been on top of things, so the Street Legal has not been as loved as it should be. It has been sailed this season, so is functional, and needs a good home. Earlier I started a thread about re-decking, which it will need - but the hull is sound. Comes with launching trolley and a no-guarantees road trailer. If someone has time, but not much money, and it is a good home, we'd pass it on for nothing, probably holding onto the suit of sails that we bought to go with it. So you'd have to find a main - the old one delaminated...the jib and all the rest of the kit go with the boat - tatty cover included.
As this is not a boat for sale, this seems to be a good place to put it. If all else fails it is off to flea-bay, I guess.

Boat lying West Midlands. Negotiations are open.:-/

Well, that Paradigm looks nice on the designs page, and with a bit of depth to the hull for older knees.

Now I have to find a tactful way to find out our all up weight...

Anyone tried a gnav?
As a way of making light-weather crewing more efficient?

And are they banned, as a similar contrivance? "Prohibitions: Jumper struts, permanently bent masts and booms, rotating masts and other 
similar contrivances."

How hard is it? Technical guides don't give me much insight...
And roughly what's the cost of the ply?

I have built a few stitch and glue canoes from plans, and a few bits and bobs for boats, but nothing this major.

We have a glass-hulled Street Legal that is beginning to lok the worse for wear after a dozen years in the family, and the time has come for decisions.. although it does carry our combined weight quite well - more than can be said for the newer 12, which suffers. 
Anyone have any experience to share> the rest of the woodwork is in not bad condition - at least structurally sound, plus or minus a bit of epoxy...

Found a new home with us - now overwintered, desanded, and re-threaded and enjoying a fairly gentle life on a puddle near Bewdley.

Due to my awful handwriting the name is not quite right - Viscid Whirl was intended - what else could you do after our last one was name Dissipation (N3077) Stil in the family after a decade.

Refurbishing a 12 at the moment - nearly ready (maybe 10 days - or never quite finished)!

Cost of New Carbon boom looks a bit prohibitive. Where would folk go to get a simple aluminium boom. Gooseneck fitting / no tracks as sail loose-footed , and probably no kicker fitting. So a simple blank, apart form that Goosnect fitting?

We may need another in family, for the Intl Moth, same specs, hence the rather general specs...

There is an interesting picture of a tow being done on  Firefly on p.27 of Twiname's "Start to Win".

Just the picture goves you some idea of the difficulties of getting a measurement!

I guess you'll need a big-ish dynamometer(force meter), and several runs to get some figures. Given that differences between boats are a few %, I'd have to guess that measuring any differences will be hard.

Might be better to start with some lower boat speed tests?

Quick question, relevant ot a bit of winter re-rigging.

A look through the photos suggest that shroud levers have been replaced by a pulley system for adjusting the shrouds. What purchase do folks use here? What breaking strain blocks?

And another - assume the job halyard also adjustable? Same two questions...
