Just to give you all a chance to get your thinking caps on - this years Burton Week Fancy Dress theme is '75'.  Come along dressed as anything that is even tenuously linked to '75'.

See you there,

The Gill Series is designed to encourage people to go to events they wouldn't normally go to but also to have the widest range of locations, types of sailing and be spread out across the year.  I have tried to do that this year as much as is possible.  Hamble was chosen not just because of where it is, but when it is and the fact that it has not been a Gill series in the recent past.  It is my intention to do the same each year, i.e. spread them throughout the country, the calender and aim not to use the same locations 2 years running.

I've had to bite the bullet and buy a new drysuit this weekend as my repairs gave up.  There are only a few small holes in my old drysuit but enough that it will not work as desired.  It seems such a waste to just throw it in the dustbin - does anyone have any ideas of how it, or bits of it, can be re-used? All sensible and not so sensible ideas accepted - please post here.....

The chaps at Explosures took some photos this weekend.  They can be found at www.explosures.co.uk  - go to the bottom of the page and login using username:national12   password:030510.
Sorry, I am not the most computer clever person, otherwise I would put a link here.....(but it looks like it might have done it automatically)

Me too!

(Alternatively, if you area cheapskate like me, the daily scuttlebutt email tells you every month who has been nominated and how to vote.)

Voting for which classes get a calender has started.  We still have a bit of a way to go to get one I think, so get voting here: http://www.fotoboat.com/

Good Luck everyone

It's really nice to see such positive comments.  I have now got 3 events I would like to do that weekend and with the airshow going on at the same time I'm not sure I will be a very useful crew (too busy looking at the sky and lovely magic flying machines!).  It's going to be a tough decision as to which one I end up doing.....

First lot on fotoboat have just arrived on their website - they seem to make it all look rather easy!!

Has anyone seen any of the photos taken by fotoboat at Burton Week?  I can't seem to find any of them on their website.

Have seen the sunday ones now and have had an email from Clodagh - electronic photos are £5 for 1 or £10 for 3

I thought it was fab too...everyone at work now thinks I am completely mad (if they didn't already) for going out in that weather!
Photos aren't bad but perhaps not as good as we are used to with fotoboat, shame there isn't an option for buying electronic versions... doesn't appear to be any of the really fun stuff on sunday.... chickens!!

I agree with the comments  on lighterweight crews - that is one of the reasons why I'm enjoying sailing again.  I am light and have short legs so struggle with the laser, didn't enjoy the europe and got bored in the RS200.  The N12 works well for my weight and is an interesting sail no matter which leg of the course you are on.  I also agree about the points to do with multiclass / socialising - I think that is probably why the RS are popular but look at the turnout for Pagham and RHYC over the last 2 years (standby for this weekend - but it sounds like there is going to be a good turnout...)
