The Sunday and Monday of Burton Week are the dates for the Southend Festival of the Air 2009 (www.southendairshow.com), which is expected to attract half a million people to the sea-front on the far side of the pier. As a result there will be various road closures and restrictions in force. Whilst these are not expected to generally have a material effect on congestion on Friday and Saturday it will almost certainly pay to avoid the sea-front west of the pier and roads close by, particularly the A13 east of Benfleet, at all times. For this reason, you might find the following routes differ from your sat-nav or other guide.
