Messages - THG

John - Ripon 07 on the Sunday was not that windy - that was first the day I used your 'new' sails and I was sailing with Elliot - was probably shifty but don't recall any capsizes on the Sunday (Saturday was mush windier / gustier).  I'd say it was around a 2-3 - wind picked up a bit after the pursuit race.

Probably team THG will be there too.

Ken - looks like there may be one locally N2642 - need to check it out more to confirm the actual boat number and builders plate as the sail number may have been passed to me.  See new thread under Paper Dart for sale!!

Mike - Joseph 'thought' / told me it was a Paper Dart - I started the note - then edited it later but can't change the topic!
Its certainly GRP though!

Had a call from a local chap (in his 70s or so) - has a Paper Dart (checked the boat list) its a Warlock design...N2642, GRP hull and has been re-decked in the last couple of years.  Seems to be complete, last sailied approximately 18 months ago.  Has 2 sets of sails (no idea of age / condition), alu rig, road trailer and trolley (probably not combi).  New tyres on the trailer plus a couple of 'life jackets' too.
He hasn't access to the internet and was trying to find best place to sell and advice on the price.  I would have thought around £500 maybe??  What do folks think about that??
Boat is based in Pewsey - South Wiltshire.  Maybe able to pop down and see in a couple of weeks time as I need to be down that way.

Its not in the NOR - lunch and 'tea' will be provided - any beverages will have to be paid for.  So any more takers let us know asap to help catering.

Forgot to say - if anyone needs a crew please post here - the cadet fleet train on a Saturday too so there could be some volunteers available.

Anyone else wanting to join in?  Spinnaker isn't too far away......

The South Cerney Open (SW & Thames area) is on Saturday 6th Sepetember.  NOR will be up very soon but first race will 11am.  3 races on the day.  South Cerney is near to Cirencester - about 20 mins north of Junction 15 or 16 from M4.
If you are coming can you let me know so I can pass numbers on.
Thanks,

Kean

Whilst on centreboards - if you comply with 7.2 there is no need for 7.4 as you cannot have the centreboard exposed below the hull per 7.2 (when fully raised), at least as I'm reading it.

Not 100% sure but didn't the first Big Issue use some sort of jib boom and was thus not fixed to the mast?  In terms of performance the flyaway stick makes sense, the Albacores use them, I think the Ents now also want to use it and I know a Firefly sailor or two that would like to have it.  Fly away jib sticks have got to be about the best / simplist performance improvement and means you don't loose the jib stick in a capsize!  I digress - but surely the rule should say a jib pole is allowed / not allowed end of?

Isn't this the rule that Radical Edward got around?  In view they are continuous curve in plan they are not??  Maybe wrong....
