Hykeham open meeting

13 Twelves enjoyed a sunny and shifty day's sailing at Hykeham. Andy Prior and Paul Turner were hot off blocks in race 1 sailing into a lead to left of course. Graham Camm & Zoe Ballantyne found enough wind in middle to snatch lead at first mark which y kept to finish. Steve & Joanne Sallis found a hole on right from which y fought all race to recover from eventually taking second.

race officer used whole length of lake for race two which involved tackling tricky light wind channel that separates two halves of lake. start was close, initially re was more wind on left taking Gerald and Tanya Copsey into lead. As fleet approach channel, Andy Bayliss & Vicky Woods found more pressure on right to pull forwards but Graham & Zoe caught enough of new wind to take lead. Andy & Vicky kept second and Sallises and Copseys battled for third with Copseys finally clinching it.

wind challenged fleet on final race with a massive starboard lift on line combined with wind filling from pin end. Sallises came out best, Paul & Caroline Watson duelling with m for top spot. Watsons snatched lead at windward mark only to give it away when wind shifted 60 degrees on run/reach. Sallises sailed through to take second.
