A competitive fleet of seven Vintage National Twelves raced for the J & T Hancock Trophy on September 4. A handicap system developed many years ago by the host club was used, in which the timed finishes of the first scratch race were used to set the starting times for the two subsequent pursuit races. The first race in a lively Force 3-4 breeze was won by N.2266, sailed by Howard & Sarah Chadwick, followed by N.2487 (Paul Turner & Kay Ash) and N.1673 (Brian Herring and Ros Stevenson). The second race, with a lighter breeze, was won by Towan & Jennifer Hancock of DRSC, with a photo finish for second place, just won by N.2300 (Ken Goddard & Alex Milburn). The final race, in Force 1-3, was won by Goddard & Milburn, with the Hancocks second. Final Result:1. K.Goddard (Trent Valley SC) & A. Milburn (DRSC) |
