I am now the proud owner of Perplexity and she is in the workshop undergoing a refurbishment. Not in any rush and when finished will sail her at Burghfield SC Berkshire. |

[face=andale mono, times]just about finished the dismantling! The decks, inner gunwales and centreboard case now removed and about to start making some new bits to go back in starting with a centreboard case to house the new centreboard. Then the foredeck framing, new 1 piece front buoyancy tank bulkhead, then side deck framing. Lots of sanding too!!!!![/face] |

Sanding the inside pretty much complete. Centrebord slot now routered to 30mm and the hog surrounding the CB slot routered to 50mm wide to allow for new CB case to be set into the hog. Centreboard case router jig made and CB bolt position now set at 50mm up from hog and 2000mm from outside of transom. Centreboard extended with a new tip to be full length 1070mm below keel band. New ring frames in build so hopefully I can finally start to put some new bits back into the old girl. Just have last dismantling decision to make about existing retained outer gunwales? Full of copper nails and screws so will more than likely remove complete and replace with new western red with mahogany capping? Have bought a new router and table and have the semi permanent loan of a thichnesser planer "wonderful tools!" Want to push ahead now as the photos from the Vintage champs have really inspired along with the sheets of 5 mm tiger elite which look gorgous just sat in the stowage rack! (Have a few spare sheets which I may well let go for a reasonable offer?) Photos to follow when Jeremy halps me put them on the site:) |

Sounds like you are doing a thorough job of it Paul. Look forward to seeing some photos of the renovation and when she is back on the water. The Sparklet has to have one of my favourite vintage 12 hull shapes. Best wishes for a successful completion Tim |

After weeks of sanding and scraping to remove all traces of 50 years worth of varnish, making and fitting the mahogany keel band at last the first epoxy coat now put on. |
