Andrew Dawson sold Goldcrest to Howard Chadwick in 2003 and she has since undergone a partial restoration including new decks and some restorative work to the hull. She was re-launched at Yeadon Sailing Clubs Open Meeting in October 2006 and raced by Howard, Dougie Macdonald and finally Graham and Zoe when she performed very well indeed. Further work is ongoing albeit very slowly to fully restore her and hopefully she will be back on the water again in 2008.

Goldcrest has been out ribbed boat racing in 2009 (see reports and photos on the web site).  Some more work has been done and Brian Herring has donated a wooden mast which when altered and refurbished should look well.  The main job of stripping the interior and repairing the bodged fibreglass repairs properly is still to be done but not until after the ribbed event on the 18th October at Yeadon. It's just a round tuit problem I guess.  Howard C

Goldcrest has again been involved in some Ribbie racing in 2010 however she now has a new metal mast having turned her original into a Banana shape.
The wooden mast donated by BH is still work in progress, sorry Brian!
Goldcrest has now gone to the International Boat Building College at Oulton Broad with Tim Gatti where Tim is very kindly using her to practise his already significant boat refurbishing skills!
The current action plan includes at least 5 new planks, several new ribs, new floorboards, some hull strengthening and a frame for keeping the bow bag in place and thats just for starters.
All of this will hopefully be complete by late April so that I have lots of time to apply varnish, paint and fittings in time for the Anniversary Regatta at the end of May.

March 2012 Update:-  Best laid plans not quite worked out and Goldcrest is now home again with some new ribs and various bits stripped back ready for repairs etc.  She also has an almost complete fully refurbished wooden mast as well as her ali one thanks to Tim Gatti.
A home move, other twelves and failing enthusiasm for the work needed mean that she could be picked up very reasonably now but only by a real enthusiast!
Happy to talk to anyone who may wish to take her on and own a part of the Class history (sorry you will be vetted, genuine enthusiasts only need apply) otherwise I will eventually get round to finishing the work and getting her back on the water where she belongs.
Further updates in due course.  Howard C aka Chadders.

October 2012 Update:-  Having had no takers from enthusiastic Twelve restorers for Goldcrest I have now made arrangements for her to join N1 in the ISCA collection at Oulton Broad where hopefully she will eventually be restored and take to the water in due course.  She will be moving to her new home in the next two weeks and be under the care of Jamie Campbell.
