higher rew - http://www.higherrew.co.uk/ - highly recommended.  I think the only potential disadvantage is the word 'higher' ; i am pretty certain though that there is not any camping available that is at or near the waters edge.

or

alston farm - http://www.devon-online.com/alstonfarm/Welcome.asp - always suggested when people ask, but not as frequently recommended

these are probably the closest 2 on the Salcombe side, but there must be more.  they are a bit of a trek from town.  we have never camped so have no personal recommendation.  I know the owners of higher rew are sailors, so that has to count for something!

Alternatively you could stay on the other side of the estuary - it is difficult to get into the town in the evening though as the ferry shuts down approx 7pm.

Hope you come, we may even be camping at Higher Rew ourselves!

Lisa,

There are a couple of camping fields on the Portlemouth side of the Estuary but like Meds says about the town side of the Estuary they are a bit of a hike to get anywhere from/to! Also parking on the 'otherside' is a hike at the end of the day too..................

My personal recomendation would be Higher Rew or Alston Farm.

The Salcombe TIC phone no is  01548 843927 or www.salcombeinformation.co.uk

Hope that helps. If you need anymore info give me a call
