Ex Dave Peacock boat now being sailed at Mid Warwickshire Yacht Club Leamington Spa. Boat is pictured sporting new Alverbanks Sails on their third outing and so far very pleased with performance

It's a pity that the Annie Apple mould has been destroyed.  The original boat is now being sailed on a very small puddle and absolutely flys in all conditions.  It seems to have all the advantages of a 70's 4 planker and self draining as well.  An opportunity missed methinks?

I guess one of the concerns with the mast is that the sail track is getting a bit rough and cracked.  It is damaging the sail cloth around the boltrope and I am concerned what it might do to a new sail over time.  Not sure how easy it is to repair or replace sail track?  I notice Chipstow has a refurbishment service.  I could speak to them.

Well done, a fabulous resource for the class.  To make the best of it I guess its down to us all now to populate it  .  A bit of a trip down memory lane for some of us!

Boats / Re: N2964 Any Colour You Like

My first 12. Purchased by myself from Ted Hill at Olton Mere circa 1994/5. I sailed it at Mid Warwickshire YC Leamington Spa. Redecked by Gerry Ledger approx 10 years ago. Holt mast replaced with a Kappa around that time too. Hull resprayed in around 1998(Yelow colour retained). Unusual in that most Scooters were GRP. 2964 built in wood and did not have the aft tank that the GRP ones had. Amazingly quick on small water. Collected a lot of Club trophies with her. Very sad to see her go but the lure of GRP beckoned. Sold it on to a guy who sailed at Bartley Green I think around 1998/99 time. Hope the current owner gets as much pleasure from her as I did!

This boat is featured on the Scooter Design link. http://www.national12.org/class/Scooter.htm

The Ratchet article on the man and his boat was most interesting.  If I read the article correctly the boat has 150% of freeboard of other current designs yet is only 5kg overweight.

Within the current rules would it be possible to build a DB 12 with a tall cockpit and a normal height bow with a swept down foredeck sort of like the RS300?

If so I guess  it would make for a relatively comfortable boat to sail and move around in
