Fuzzy Duck at Ripon where she was the first "modern" boat in the pursuit race!

Dave,

Am I right in the following assumption.
When you have found the Shear on the deck you use a straight edge to mark this level onto the mast in its normal position.  This would then give the height to the top band from this point. If the mast is short you can raise the foot?

But Gerry, how do you know where the sear line is if it has worn off your mast?

Hiya Janey,

How could I forget!!!

Sadly due to a Hernia I had not sailed since Northampton untill 2 weeks ago, but Fuzzy Duck did OK at Ripon the highlight being 10th in the pursuit (first non vintage boat). In the fleet racing to many things broke to put a good set of results together.

You will be glad to hear that following a repaint I have restored the Fuzzy to the Duck ?!? But my 12 year old now knows where the saying comes from! Ah well he had to learn sometime.

I also discovered Ripon was her original home, so unless any more people turn up I now know the full history.

As I am planning to make the trek up form essex this weekend, I wondered what was the condition of the field for camping?

Or will we be floating the boat in it?

I am planning to travel friday night, leaving about 4pm.  Estimate arrival at 9pm.  Will i be able to get the boat into the club?

Could anyone tell me when the gill Series results are going to be updated?

The overall results only show the Bristol event.

Martin,
If you do end up getting a Chipstow mast (very nice mast, from a very nice man) I would be very interested in the possibility of purchasing your then second hand mast.

If you go this way please let me know.

Alex,

We use the Piab units in the company I work for and personnaly I would not recommend them for this application.  They work on a venturi principle of blowing compresse air over an orifice to suck the air out.  The disadvantage is that the compressed air is blowing into the atmosphere for the entire curring period. Thats a long time to have the compressor going at full flow, as well as noisy.

If you can get to Essex I have a Busch Vacuum pump in my factory which i can loan out long term. The only disadvantage is it a 3 phase 240/440V 50 Hz.  This will suck 220-260 m3/hr so should be more than sufficient.  Just leave it on and it will hold the vacuum as long as required.

If you dont have acces to 3 pahse supply you can run this off domestic mains with an inverter, which can be hired.  If you are interested let me know and we can arrange something because I wouldn't mind a Carbon Boom!

I remember this boat from Rudyard Lake in the late 70's early 80's.  Owned by chap called John, can't remember his second name.  Crewed by Richard Bradbury.

Good fast boat, with gray hull.  Richard and I won a few races in her in, if my memory is correct, about 1980/81.

Sold out of the club on his death in the early 80's  :'(

Don't know current wherabouts.

Am currently in the process of trying to convince the wife we can combine a family holiday with Burton week.

Having not done a sailing champs for over 10 years and to help my arguement can you please give me a rough idea of the sailing format.

i.e. how many races a day, what time does racing start, duration, etc. an so what time will we have left with the rest of the family?

Thanks
