Anyone coming tomorrow please note gasworks on A205 Upper Richmond Rd west of Putney High St. There's diversions all over the place & traffic is slow.

I'm not sure if Jeremy is running his Burghfield Winter Series this year. At IBRSC the RS200s are running a 5 week series on the 2nd Sunday of each month. If there is interest we could try something similar, maybe a 3 week series on the 3rd Sunday of Jan-Mar? Post here if you are interested in this.

N3085 has been kindly donated by Michael Moore of Chessington to Island Barn RSC where it will be put to good use by the more adventurous of our learner sailors and some of the more experienced helms with small kids.
Its in great condition, although the sails are old - the orginals from 1979 as measured by Robert Peebles, and has had little use in recent years. It looks to have lain inside for much of that time. There's a couple of little things to do and it'll be on the water in no time.

Jolly good call by the class association! I'm planning to be there on the Sunday but no way could have made a 2 day event.

Alex started in the front of the Crusader at age 6 and MUCH prefers the Big Issue DB  even though he's now a lot bigger (age 10). Less distance to climb from floor to deck and less centreboard to negotiate.
Six is the perfect age to gently introduce kids to sailing in a 12, but it has to be on their terms - if they don't want to go out, you don't go out & if they want to come in, you go in. I still apply those rules and in a few years time Alex will be a good crew for someone a lighter than me. Venue is also important - we started on a river - and I do think that helped because its smaller scale, feels safer, easy to launch, there's more going on around. It was less intimidating than a big expanse of water and when its windy its too gusty to contemplate going out anyway.

Just one clarification - and point of honour! It was gear failure that did for us in the morning just after the start. Nothing like a winter blow to sort out the little niggles on the boat.

Still not feeling too well if the name of Bim's boat in the results is anything to go by!!

Nice day's sailing, despite both centreboard and rudder having to go into foil hospital afterwards - damn those islands - and well worth the crawl back along the M4.

Sadly we'll miss the next one
