Hi Paul,
There is an old National 12 mainsail for sale on ebay at the moment. Looks in good nick, better infact than the old mylar one which went with N2743.

Hi Angus,
I have absolutely no plan to be in class at Uni. I am more keen to get back into the National 12 class, possibly doing a degree in advanced capsizing.

Many thanks to all those on the stand from an ex 12 sailor. Really helpful and it made my day. I feel robbed that I sold my old Paper Dart now. Seasalter is very much the worse for losing its only 12, even if it did sink occasionally. Really great show from you all, especially the nice young woman (hell she was older than me but thats not hard), who chatted to me instead of getting her T-shirt.

I look forward to get back into the class during Uni.

Boats / Re: N2743 Nanook

Rescued this boat from the marsh at Seasalter SC, North Kent, in  summer 2005. Suspected to be an ex-Whitstable boat.  Renovated with problems over the winter and sailed fairly regularly, winner of the 2005 Seasalter SC Long Winter Series. Also used for many pub cruises. Sold to a chap from the Midlands in  November 2006. Needed the foredecks replacing at that point due to poor quality ply. Went with sadness and a sieve like early mylar mainsail (kindly donated by a 12 sailor in 2005), leaving me to sail Solos instead. The shame.

Seasalter Sailing Club, North Kent
A club looking for more 12 sailors. We are cheaper than Whitstable and more friendly!;)

Argh, yet more. Any way we can get rid of these pests?

Tom, this is a common discussion topic! The newest ones race on 1098, i think, but the organisation has some non-offical PYs that can be used at the club's discretion. I don't know all of them but i raced my old Paper Dart 12 (sail no. 2743) on 1130 and that worked fine. it was one of the best handicaps in the fleet, even beating the stupidly high one of the new Topazs.
Hope this is of some help,

hi Rich,
Was it you i saw capsize off Whitstable today? Fantastic Capsize although the Seasalter pub Brigade were enjoying the spectacle from the beach at the Neptune.  I had similar problems in my Laser, capsizing just before you did!

Hi Rich,
I agree, the 12 goes stand out from the crowd, due to its shape. It must be the beautiful straight stem. People walking passed Seasalter and seeing my boat on the beach (usually after a short sail followed by a sinking!) often remark. It has even been painted! Good to hear that another 12 has made it to the North Kent coast.

N2743 (which is STILL for sale if anyone is interested...)

Seasalter Sailing Club are holding our annual Open Fowley race around Fowley Island on the 9th of september. A long way away, i know but always good to know. The club is situated on the North Kent coast just west of Whitstable. It would be good to see a few N12s coming down for a sail on the Swale. The race starts at 12.45. Camping and catering are available at the club. more information can be found at www.seasaltersailing.org.uk and even more information about entering the race can be found by emailing our sailing secretary on swillis@me139ty.fsnet.co.uk

Hi,
It would appear that you have got one of the long lost Whitstable Yacht Club 12s from the North Kent coast. Spent some time there trying to find out where they had all gone. I have one that ended up at Seasalter just down the road from Whitstable. Members at Whitstable may be able to help with some history of the boat
